Marine Advanced Robotics

The WAM-V is an ultra-light catamaran with a hull mounted on cleverly suspended legs, drifting with springs, shock absorbers and spherical joints, and helping to stabilize their pitching and rolling to make them suitable for sea conditions where other ships of the same size cannot operate at all. Because the propellers are always in the water, they are highly operable and can rotate almost 360 degrees under their feet.

This is part of wave adaptability, which is also modular and has a quick connection interface that allows operators to quickly change propulsion systems, payloads and sensors / instrument packages to accomplish different tasks. In addition, they are transportable, built for rapid assembly and disassembly, and they can be decomposed so small that four 16-foot WAM-V can be packed in a standard transport container.

If they are big enough, the WAM-Vs can run a manned cabin. Or they can run on their own, or through remote control. Marine Advanced Robotics now makes and delivers products of all sizes, from the imposing 100ft Proteus to small autonomous 8ft boats that can run in 6 inches of water because of their ultra-shallow draught.

Even without dismantling them, they can lower their top platform to level with the surface of the water, so that they can easily change the payload in the air or let people jump on board. If necessary, they can also fold their legs to make themselves more compact from one side to the other. In addition, they can choose to run with internal combustion engines or electric motors depending on the nature of the task at hand.

All this makes these things an excellent platform for a variety of applications in research, mapping, surveying, asset inspection, defense and robotics. WAM-V has been the platform used by the Maritime RobotX Challenge since 2014. This is an international student robot competition focused on cooperation and autonomy, in which teams program their ships to accomplish a series of different tasks. such as navigation according to visual cues, simulated search and rescue operations, drone support, self-docking in designated bays, and so on.

The Marine Advanced Robotics is readily available in sizes of 8 feet, 16 feet and 22 feet (2.4m, 4.8m, 6.7m), but also offers the option of customizing larger ships. But the company also rents them out as a service, either individually or in the fleet.
