In the second quarter of 2022, due to the continued downturn in education procurement compared with the same period last year, laptop shipments fell for the third consecutive quarter, falling 18.6 per cent to 54.5 million units. In contrast, due to increased openness in various countries and strong business demand, desktop computers have been updated and upgraded, with shipments rising slightly by 0.6% to 15.6 million units. Despite severe pressure on the global macro economy in the future, the high-end commercial sector will still be the bright spot in the overall PC market this year.
Lenovo shipped 17.5 million units in the second quarter of 2022, down 12%, but still ranks first in the global PC market, according to the data. Hewlett-Packard's shipments to the education market this year have performed poorly compared with last year, with total shipments of 13.5 million units, down 28%, the biggest decline among the top five manufacturers. Dell followed HP in third place, with shipments of 13.2 million units, a relatively modest decline of just 5 per cent. The market share increased by 2 percentage points compared with a year ago. Acer and Asustek were fourth and fifth, down 19 per cent and 5 per cent respectively.
