There is also a plot to restore the classic horror movie "Shining", which must have made many viewers in front of the screen lament the omnipotence of the virtual world in the future.

Although these are only the plots of the movie, a virtual museum has recently been inaugurated in the virtual social software VR Chat. What is more special is that this is a museum built entirely by Chinese community players about the unique culture formed by the Chinese Internet over the past 20 years-its name is "ChinesememesMuseum".

According to the curator of the museum, bilibili UP master @ Siji, the virtual museum, which brings together hundreds of relatively popular branches on the Chinese Internet since about 2000, will be open to all users free of charge as a public welfare project, using VR Chat's platform. About two or three months ago, Siji and his friends made the DEMO of this virtual museum and got some attention on the Internet. At that time, the internal capacity was only about 20% of the actual collection. Recently, they have finally completed the overall construction of the museum.

The steps to enter the Chinese Terrier Museum are not complicated, you just need to download a free VR Chat on Steam, log in and enter "Chinese Terrier Museum" in the search interface and click to enter the corresponding world. Even players without VR can visit the museum smoothly in first-person view mode.

The structure of the whole Chinese stem museum is very formal. From the beginning of entering the first front desk in the museum, the whole museum is divided into seven exhibition areas. Visitors can visit the whole museum as long as they follow the designed route. No matter from the interior decoration design of the museum or the exhibition form of the exhibits in each theme exhibition area, it is almost the same as the real museum, and it is presented in the form of VR, so the sense of substitution of tourists when visiting is almost the same as visiting the museum in real life.

The seven theme exhibition areas in the museum correspond to the development of Chinese Internet Terrier Culture at different stages, as well as some of the most representative famous Terminals born in different fields. Each exhibition area will be equipped with a large number of exhibits and a text description of individual exhibits. A complete visit will take at least more than an hour.

At the beginning, the "stem up" exhibition area was responsible for introducing some of the earliest classic branches of the Chinese Internet. Because these stalks are old, and most of them come from post bars, forums, and so on, the earliest social platforms in China, so the form of exhibition is mainly based on web screenshots and age-conscious network pictures. Among the popular words at that time, such as "Jia Junpeng, your mother called you home for dinner", "my little friend and I were shocked", "Don't be infatuated with Brother, Brother is just a legend" and other popular words at that time, I believe that many post-80s and post-90s online surfers will feel very kind after seeing them-after all, these sentence patterns are very popular at that time, with related original posts and blog posts. Almost all of them have received more than a million likes and hundreds of thousands of responses, and in that era of chaos in the online environment, they brought the simplest and pure fun for surfers.

The exhibits at this stage also include many of the earliest Internet celebrities in the Internet era. For example, Internet celebrities Xiao Pang, boys behind, Sister Feng, and Beast, the first generation of Internet celebrities on the Chinese Internet, have disappeared and become ordinary people, while others are still trying to return to public view, such as Brother B, whom we introduced earlier. But in any case, their images have been engraved into the memories of generations of netizens, and it is somewhat impressive to see them again in the museum.

Most of the exhibits in this area are only equipped with pictures, models and simple text descriptions, introducing how these earliest branches of the Chinese Internet were born, and there seems to be no difference between the form and the real museum. When it comes to the next exhibition area, the designers of the museum begin to do a lot of work for tourists.

Most of the exhibits located in the "stalk" exhibition area are the new stalks born through the network video platform after the gradual development of the Internet, in which ghosts and livestock videos occupy the absolute dominance. The museum has popularized the source of all kinds of ghost and animal works that are now familiar with, in addition to the text description as before, in order to reflect the characteristics of the original video content and ghost and animal empty ear material, the corresponding audio material and a 1: 1 reproduction model of the original scene are also added.

Visitors can press the horn button next to each exhibit description, and then the original clips of the ghost and animal material will be played around, such as the Fuhrer's "angry couple" and Di Renjie's "Yuan Fang, what do you think?" . On the other hand, the famous scenes of ghost areas such as Zhou who stole the battery car and the locker room war have been engraved into the museum one by one.

In addition to text introductions and audio, these scenes also have some basic interactive functions, such as the location of mobile characters, picking up props in the scene, and so on. In addition to bringing visitors a more immersive exhibition experience, if you are visiting with your friends, and you all have a set of VR devices, then using these famous scenes to make life, you can also have fun that is difficult to achieve.

You can even perform on the stage by yourself. Source: bilibili UP Master @ Siji

What impresses me most about this area is that after visiting two large exhibition halls, you will enter an exclusive exhibition area created according to the famous scene "Bo Lan Brother participating in the Voice of Chinese Dream". Compared with other ghost and livestock scenes in the previous "stalk" exhibition hall, which is relatively not a large area, this specially isolated exhibition area not only allows tourists to experience the original scene of the classic materials of this ghost and livestock area here, but also when tourists enter this area through the aisle, the decoration of the surrounding aisle and the background sound in the ear will also become the style of the original stage of Chinese Dream's program. Let the tourists unconsciously put into the perspective of Brother Bo Lan, who stepped onto the stage from here, and revisit this famous scene.

After that, in the "Dianxing" and "Dianfan" exhibition area, the form of the exhibits on display is probably a combination of the previous "Dianxing" and "stalks". The picture and text instructions are matched with some famous scene replicas and audio and video materials. The introduction is closer to the Internet Terminals of our current era, such as the Italian cannon in "Bright Sword", the war of words between Zhuge Prime Minister and Wang Szeto, brother Jie, and so on. The purpose of these two areas is to show us that in today's ever-changing Internet environment, the alternation between the old and the new will become more frequent, and their origins will become more and more diverse. in addition to the most common ghost videos, all kinds of news programs and social events, even if it has been in existence for a long time, may one day be discovered by netizens and become popular again. It has become a popular stem on the Chinese Internet, such as "Uncle Erxianqiao", "Chicken Soup coming" and "Huaqiang Buy Melon".

There is no denying that the communication ability and influence of these trunks have reached an unprecedented level. And you never know when and where the next popular style will appear, or how long they will be popular. In a sense, it is also a good thing to have such a museum that records their existence. Maybe in the next five years of the Chinese Internet, when we look back at these popular branches at that time, maybe the mood and ideas will also change dramatically.

In addition, the museum also has two special exhibition areas, "two dimensions" and "players", which can be said to accurately control the preferences of the museum audience. The "two-dimensional" exhibition area, as its name implies, displays some famous characters in animation works, such as a famous scene, a famous line, and the empty ears of songs and lines liked by domestic audiences. The entire exhibition hall has also set up a separate exhibition area for some animation works for tourists to clock in, take pictures and clean up. For example, you can see the one-to-one engraving of "the death of the Leader", and the background music around it will also be replaced by the classic "Xiao Cang Lan" (freesia), and when you walk to the booth where "Miss Huiyue wants me to confess ~ the love minds of the geniuses ~", the music will immediately be replaced by the classic "Secretary Dance" soundtrack.

You can also lie down with the colonel.

This unique way of reproducing famous scenes can only be realized through VR virtual reality today. For example, if you want to see the following proportion of production as high as in reality, it is impossible for other cities in China, except for first-tier cities such as Shanghai and Guangzhou, to display relevant models at all, and there are only a small number of tourists who can really come to these cities to see the exhibits. With the help of VR equipment, everyone can visit these rare exhibits without leaving home, which greatly reduces the threshold for viewing the exhibition.

My personal favorite is the game area in the museum. The main reason, in addition to showing a large number of game-related stalks, the way I entered the area also gave me a new understanding of the behavior of strolling in the virtual world. The designer cleverly designed the entrance of the playhouse into the style of the most classic sewer entrance in the original Super Mario Brothers. Tourists jumped down from the green pipes and came into view after landing. It is the tourist passageway built around according to the original game map-there are squares with question marks on the wall, and the most classic enemies in the game, such as Chestnut Baby, act as background boards. It feels like it's really crossed into Mario's world, and it's very interesting.

After visiting the first six pavilions and learning about the numerous obstacles on the Chinese Internet and the culture behind them, the last "home" hall of the museum gives people a feeling of returning to the original mind. This museum mainly displays classic works from the Spring Festival Gala in the past. For example, Chen Peisi and Zhu Shimao's "protagonist and supporting role", Huang Hong's "decoration", Zhao Benshan's "crutch", in addition to a variety of film and television works in the famous scene.

These are the main ways for people to accept happiness in real life before the advent of the Internet age, and today, these classic works and fragments are still deeply preserved in the memories of several generations. One of the details that impresses me is that the background music of the "Home" Pavilion is not the two-dimensional and game songs that we are familiar with, but the ones that can most resonate with the reality of tourists, the lively conversation of thousands of families when they get together. Although it seems that there is an obvious difference in style between this museum and the previous six pavilions, it can be said that the design of this museum has elevated the idea of the entire "Chinese Terrier Museum" in terms of the theme of "making Happiness".

At present, the Chinese Terrier Museum has been basically completed, and interested tourists can visit this virtual online museum at any time through VR Chat. Of course, the museum itself still has some defects, such as a large number of stem materials, not directly calling the original video, but only in the form of pictures and audio, which may be limited by the technology of VR Chat itself, but it does reduce the fun of watching the exhibition to some extent. And if they are tourists who do not have much contact with the stem culture, they may not be able to understand the interest of the stem itself only through pictures and text descriptions.

Of course, video is the best.

But in any case, having a Chinese museum in the virtual world is a good thing for domestic netizens who are keen on surfing the Internet. The Chinese Internet has experienced rapid development in the past two decades. In this era of information explosion, perhaps there should be such a place to preserve the memories of generations of Internet stalk culture. We carry out the metabolism of information in our minds every day, so it is difficult to guarantee that with the growth of age and the progress of the times, some ancient Internet cultural symbols will not be gradually forgotten by the real and virtual world. But with Chinese museums and more similar virtual museums, we may be able to recall the things that brought us the purest happiness in the years to come.

On the other hand, Siji and his friends also have both real and virtual considerations in order to build such a virtual museum.

On the one hand, because of the impact of epidemic prevention and control, in reality, many museums and exhibitions are not open to ordinary tourists. Even exhibitions held every year, such as E3 Game Exhibition and ChinaJoy, have generally not progressed smoothly in recent years, either cancelled or changed to be held online, which has brought a lot of inconvenience to tourists and exhibitors. Sirou and his friends, who were initially shut down at home for more than two months because of the epidemic in Shanghai, came up with the idea of building the virtual museum when they were unable to go out.

In essence, virtual museums do not have to worry about these problems at all. As long as there is an Internet, visitors can visit them anytime and anywhere. Although with today's technology, these can not achieve the same sense of presence as reality, but with the gradual maturity of the corresponding technology, the future of real and virtual exhibitions held simultaneously, should become a popular trend.

On the other hand, as Siji said on the wall of the entrance of the Chinese Terminator Museum, they hope that with the help of the Chinese Terminator Museum, to "explore and inspire the future consumption patterns of Internet content" and "rethink the more reasonable and meaningful development direction of meta-cosmic products". Although this seems to be a very grand proposition, you also know that at present, the Internet still has different opinions on the concept of "meta-universe". Some people think that it is the main way of life for mankind in the future, while others think that it is just a gimmick for capital hype. After all, what we can see in reality, the most intuitive display of meta-universe, I am afraid there are only NFT products whose prices have been hyped up. And all kinds of Internet technology companies that are under the banner of "meta-universe" but do not come up with any actual products.

In contrast, the Chinese Terrier Museum built by Sirou and his team, as well as the VR Chat behind it, may be one of the few products close to the ideal meta-universe of netizens. They do not put forward any grand concept of meta-universe, and their functions are relatively thin, but the purpose of their existence is to help users stay outside reality with the help of virtual reality technology. Looking for a place to create fun is perhaps the most appropriate state of the meta-universe at this stage.

After the Chinese Terrier Museum was launched, it also attracted a lot of attention from the outside world. Some well-known UP owners, such as bilibili's carefree scattered people, also let more viewers know about this museum located in the virtual world through video, and many visitors came to sign in.

I look at myself.

When I am writing this article, almost every time I go online, I can see tourists constantly entering the museum. They will take photos in front of those classic places and communicate with each other simply through voice and action. Even if the language is not understood sometimes, the joy of visiting the exhibition removes the gap brought about by this language and fills the whole museum with a cheerful air.

Some people have even started to "express" museums.

This unique exhibition experience may be worth a try for every netizen who loves surfing the Internet.
