中国地质科学院1956年建院,是新中国成立初期我国最早建立的少数几个科学研究院,也是我国专业齐全、规模最大、技术力量雄厚的社会公益类地学科研机构,是国家创新体系的重要组成部分。目前从事的地质研究领域包括基础地质、矿产地质、水文地质、工程地质、岩溶地质、环境地质、深部探测、物化探勘查技术、岩矿测试技术、矿产资源综合利用技术等,主要任务是通过创新研究,解决国民经济和社会发展中的重大地质科学技术问题,为国土资源规划、管理、保护与合理利用提供决策依据;为国土资源部参与国家宏观调控提供参谋和咨询;为地质调查和找矿突破提供科技支撑,培养高级地质科技人才,服务国民经济建设和社会发展,攀登地球科学高峰。

中国地质科学院现有人员编制数为2753人,2011年末实有人数3378人,包括在职职工1738人、离退休人员1640人。全院在职职工中,专业技术人员1304人,其中两院院士14人,研究员及教授级高工295人,副研究员及高级工程师271人,博士学位408人,硕士学位336人,国家杰出青年基金获得者6人,13人进入国家百千万人才计划,44人享受政府特殊津贴;专业技术人员中,形成了以院士领军,研究员和博士为主体、创新能力强、高层次人才密集的地质科技队伍。

中国地质科学院自建院以来,先后完成万余项科研项目和任务,提交了大批科技水平高、社会效益明显的重要科技成果,获得了为数可观的国家级及省部级奖项,为新中国地质事业发展发挥了重大作用,谱写了辉煌的篇章。指导发现了大庆油田、粤北铀矿、白银厂铜矿、大厂锡矿、罗布泊钾盐、盐湖锂矿等大型矿床,为国民经济建设做出了重大贡献。拥有李四光、黄汲清、谢家荣、程裕淇等一大批著名科学家,曾有四十多位院士先后在我院工作。

中国地质科学院现由院部和地质研究所、矿产资源研究所、地质力学研究所、水文地质环境地质研究所、地球物理地球化学勘查研究所、岩溶地质研究所、国家地质实验测试中心等8个单位组成。先后建立联合国教科文组织国际岩溶研究中心、国家现代地球物理勘查工程技术中心、大陆构造与动力学国家重点实验室、国家首批科技基础条件平台——北京离子探针中心,拥有14个国土资源部重点实验室、4个部级检测中心、15个国土资源部野外科学观测研究基地。

中国地质科学院设有研究生部,具有2个博士学位授权一级学科点和2个博士后科研流动站,8个博士学位授权专业、11个硕士学位授权专业,是目前国土资源部唯一具有博士、硕士学位授予权和博士后科研流动站的高级地质人才培养基地。

中国地质科学院与国际地学界有广泛的交流与合作,先后与40多个国家和地区、近百个国外科研机构建立了长期友好合作关系。组织实施了数百项国际合作项目,取得了一大批重要成果,有33位专家在国际学术组织任职,在引进、消化、吸收、发展和推广世界先进地质理论和技术方法方面,发挥了重要作用。中国国际地球科学计划全国委员会秘书处、世界数据中心中国地质学科中心、国际地质科学联合会地质遗产北京办公室等国际地学组织与相关机构及中国地质学会、李四光地质科学奖基金会、全国地层委员会挂靠在中国地质科学院。

“十一五”期间,先后组织实施深部探测技术与实验研究专项、汶川地震断裂科学钻探工程等国家专项及大批重要科技项目,组织开展了喜马拉雅和青藏高原深剖面及综合研究(INDEPTH)、中俄蒙哈韩五国合作编图、中俄双极联合科学考察、国际地球化学填图、1:500万亚洲地质编图、亚洲地下水资源与环境地质编图等重要国际科技合作项目,在桂林建立联合国教科文组织国际岩溶研究中心,推动了地球科学理论创新与地质科技发展。在大陆动力学、大陆成矿理论、地球早期生物演化、岩溶动力学、地下水循环与调控、地质环境与地质灾害、勘查地球化学、地球深部探测等领域,取得具有国际先进水平的研究成果。通过自主创新和技术改造,发展了地质勘查与实验测试技术;面向全球建立远程自动监控网络虚拟实验系统,大型科学仪器远程控制技术保持国际领先地位。

“十一五”期间,全院共发表论文4000余篇,包括SCI检索论文762篇、EI检索论文54篇、NATURE与SCIENCE论文4篇,出版专著130部;获得国家科技进步奖6项、国家科学技术发明奖1项、省部级科技成果奖62项,取得国家发明专利5项。2007年,科研竞争力进入了世界1000强科研机构行列,在地球科学领域的学科竞争力全球排名第57位。

“十二五”科技工作发展思路:遵循“自主创新、重点跨越、支撑发展、引领未来”的科技工作方针,以全球视野,立足地球科学发展前沿,以支撑国家对能源和矿产资源需求为导向,发挥整体科技优势,组织实施重大科技项目,推动地球科学发展,取得对国计民生和科学发展有重要价值、具有国际影响的创新成果,为资源持续供应、高效利用和保护地质环境和减灾防灾做出新的更大贡献。

“十二五”目标任务:实施一项重大科学工程—— 国家地壳探测工程,为深层能源突破和开辟“第二找矿空间”提供坚实的技术支撑,为地质灾害高精度的预警预报提供理论依据;组织实施三大创新研究,包括国家基础地质创新研究、矿产资源创新研究、全球变化与地质环境创新研究,进一步发展地球科学理论与成矿成藏理论,引领地质调查发展方向,支撑服务找矿突破战略行动,推动我国从地学大国走向地学强国;发展五大技术方法,包括高精度重磁电震地球物理勘查关键技术、地球化学填图方法与地球化学勘查技术、现代测试分析技术方法、矿产资源综合利用技术及野外实验观测技术等,形成具有国际先进水平的地质勘查与实验测试技术方法体系;承担五个方面的科技支撑服务工作,包括重大基础地质问题研究、矿产资源潜力评价与资源战略研究、学科发展及立典研究、地质找矿技术方法与仪器设备研发及推广应用、地质编图与地质矿产数据库建设等工作,服务地质调查、找矿勘查与经济社会发展。建设2个科学研究基地、2-3个国际研究中心、2-3个国家重点实验室、6-8个重要野外观测系统,大幅提高创新能力建设,培养引进高端科技领军人才。

力争“十二五”期间,我院科技竞争力显著增强,科研环境明显改观,创新平台建设与人才引进有突破性进展,对国土资源事业支撑服务能力大幅提升,对实现找矿突破战略行动宏伟目标的科技引领和支撑作用发挥显著,科技竞争力和国际学术地位显著提高,争取早日迈入世界一流地学研究机构行列。

The Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences, founded in 1956, is the first few scientific research institutes established in the early days of the founding of the people’s Republic of China. It is also a social public welfare geoscience research institution with a full range of specialties, the largest scale and strong technical force. It is an important part of the national innovation system. Currently engaged in geological research fields include basic geology, mineral geology, hydrogeology, engineering geology, karst geology, environmental geology, deep exploration, geophysical and geochemical exploration technology, rock and mineral testing technology, comprehensive utilization technology of mineral resources, etc., the main task is to solve major geological science and technology problems in national economic and social development through innovative research. Provide decision-making basis for the planning, management, protection and rational utilization of land and resources. Provide staff and consultation for the Ministry of Land and Resources to participate in national macro-control; provide scientific and technological support for geological survey and prospecting breakthroughs, train senior geological scientific and technological personnel, serve national economic construction and social development, and climb the heights of geoscience.

At present, the number of personnel of the Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences is 2753, with an actual number of 3378 at the end of 2011, including 1738 employees and 1640 retirees. Among the working staff of the hospital, there are 1304 professional and technical personnel, including 14 academicians of the two academies, 295 senior engineers at the level of researchers and professors, 271 associate researchers and senior engineers, 408 doctoral degrees and 336 master’s degrees. 6 winners of the National Outstanding Youth Fund, 13 entered the National 10 million Talent Program, and 44 received special government subsidies. Among the professional and technical personnel, a geological science and technology team is formed, which is led by academicians, researchers and doctors as the main body, strong innovative ability and high-level talent-intensive.

Since its establishment, the Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences has successively completed more than 10,000 scientific research projects and tasks, submitted a large number of important scientific and technological achievements with high scientific and technological level and obvious social benefits, and won a considerable number of national and provincial and ministerial awards. it has played an important role in the development of geological undertakings in New China and wrote a brilliant chapter. He directed the discovery of large deposits such as Daqing Oilfield, Northern Guangdong uranium Mine, Baiyinchang Copper Mine, Dachang Tin Mine, Lop Nur Potash Salt and Salt Lake Lithium Mine, which made great contributions to the construction of the national economy. It has a large number of famous scientists, such as Li Siguang, Huang Jiqing, Xie Jiarong and Cheng Yuqi, and more than 40 academicians have worked in our hospital.

The Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences is now composed of eight units, including the Department and the Institute of Geology, the Institute of Mineral Resources, the Institute of Geomechanics, the Institute of Hydrogeology and Environmental Geology, the Institute of Geophysics and Geochemistry, the Institute of Karst Geology, and the National Geological Experimental Test Center. It has successively established the UNESCO International Karst Research Center, the National Modern Geophysical Exploration Engineering Technology Center, the State key Laboratory of Continental Tectonics and Dynamics, and the Beijing Ion probe Center, the country’s first scientific and technological basic condition platform. it has 14 key laboratories of the Ministry of Land and Resources, 4 ministerial testing centers and 15 field scientific observation and research bases of the Ministry of Land and Resources.

The Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences has a graduate department, which has 2 first-class doctoral degree programs, 2 postdoctoral research stations, 8 doctoral degree authorized majors and 11 master’s degree authorized majors. at present, it is the only senior geological personnel training base of the Ministry of Land and Resources with the right to grant doctoral and master’s degrees and the flow station of postdoctoral scientific research.

The Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences has extensive exchanges and cooperation with the international geosciences, and has established long-term friendly and cooperative relations with more than 40 countries and regions and nearly 100 foreign scientific research institutions. Hundreds of international cooperation projects have been organized and implemented, and a large number of important achievements have been achieved. 33 experts have served in international academic organizations, which have played an important role in introducing, digesting, absorbing, developing and popularizing the world’s advanced geological theories and techniques. The Secretariat of the National Committee of the China International Geoscience Program, the China Geological Science Center of the World data Center, the Geological Heritage Beijing Office of the International Union of Geosciences, and other international geoscience organizations and relevant institutions, as well as the Chinese Geological Society, Li Siguang Geoscience Award Foundation and the National Committee of Stratigraphy are affiliated with the Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences.

During the Eleventh five-year Plan period, it has organized and implemented national special projects such as deep exploration technology and experimental research, Wenchuan earthquake fault scientific drilling project, and a large number of important scientific and technological projects. Organized and carried out important international scientific and technological cooperation projects, such as the Deep profile and Comprehensive study of the Himalayas and Qinghai-Tibet Plateau (INDEPTH), Sino-Russian cooperative mapping of Mongolia, Kazakhstan and South Korea, Sino-Russian bipolar joint scientific expedition, international geochemical mapping, 1: 5 million Asian geological mapping, Asian groundwater resources and environmental geological mapping, etc., and established a UNESCO International Karst Research Center in Guilin. It promotes the innovation of geoscience theory and the development of geological science and technology. In the fields of continental dynamics, continental metallogenic theory, early earth biological evolution, karst dynamics, groundwater circulation and regulation, geological environment and geological disasters, exploration geochemistry, deep exploration of the earth, etc., achieved international advanced research results. Through independent innovation and technological transformation, the geological exploration and experimental testing technology has been developed, the global remote automatic monitoring network virtual experiment system has been established, and the remote control technology of large-scale scientific instruments has maintained a leading position in the world.

During the Eleventh five-year Plan period, the hospital published more than 4000 papers, including 762 papers on SCI, 54 papers on EI, 4 papers on NATURE and SCIENCE, and 130 monographs. It won 6 national scientific and technological progress awards, 1 national scientific and technological invention awards, 62 provincial and ministerial scientific and technological achievements awards, and 5 national invention patents. In 2007, the competitiveness of scientific research entered the ranks of the top 1000 scientific research institutions in the world, and ranked 57th in the field of geosciences.

The train of thought for the development of scientific and technological work in the 12th five-year Plan: follow the scientific and technological work policy of “independent innovation, key leapfrogging, supporting development, and leading the future”, with a global perspective, based on the forefront of geoscience development, take supporting the country’s demand for energy and mineral resources as the guidance, give full play to the overall scientific and technological advantages, organize and implement major scientific and technological projects, and promote the development of geoscience. We have made innovative achievements that are of great value to the national economy, people’s livelihood and scientific development and have an international impact, and make new and greater contributions to the sustainable supply of resources, efficient utilization and protection of the geological environment, disaster reduction and prevention.

The goal and task of the 12th five-year Plan: to implement a major scientific project-the National crustal Exploration Project, to provide solid technical support for deep energy breakthroughs and the opening up of the “second prospecting space”, and to provide a theoretical basis for high-precision early warning and prediction of geological disasters. Organize and implement three major innovative studies, including national basic geological innovation research, mineral resources innovation research, global change and geological environment innovation research, further develop geoscience theory and ore-forming and accumulation theory, lead the development direction of geological survey, support and serve the strategic action of ore prospecting breakthrough, and promote China from a big geoscience country to a geoscience power. Develop five major technical methods, including high-precision gravity, magnetic, electric and seismic geophysical exploration key technologies, geochemical mapping and geochemical exploration techniques, modern testing and analysis techniques, comprehensive utilization of mineral resources and field experimental observation techniques, etc., to form a system of geological exploration and experimental testing techniques with international advanced level. To undertake five aspects of scientific and technological support services, including the study of major basic geological problems, mineral resources potential evaluation and resource strategy research, discipline development and canonical research, research and development and application of geological prospecting techniques, instruments and equipment, geological mapping and the construction of geological and mineral resources database, to serve geological survey, mineral exploration and economic and social development. We will build 2 scientific research bases, 2-3 international research centers, 2-3 national key laboratories and 6-8 important field observation systems, greatly improve the building of innovative capacity, and train and introduce high-end scientific and technological leaders.

During the 12th five-year Plan period, our scientific and technological competitiveness has been significantly enhanced, the scientific research environment has been significantly improved, the construction of innovation platform and the introduction of talents have made breakthroughs, and the ability to support and serve the cause of land and resources has been greatly improved. it has played a significant role in leading and supporting the realization of the grand goal of ore prospecting breakthrough strategic action, and the competitiveness of science and technology and international academic status have been significantly improved.
