三明学院是2004年5月经教育部批准成立的省属普通本科高校,实行省市共建、以市为主的管理体制,2012年6月通过教育部本科教学工作合格评估。学校前身是三明高等专科学校,于2000年10月由三明师范高等专科学校、三明职业大学、三明师范学校合并组建,办学历史可以追溯到1903年陈宝琛创办的全闽师范学堂。

学校位于海峡西岸福建省新兴工业城市、中国优秀旅游城市——三明市。三明是革命老区,辖区内的宁化、清流、归化(今明溪县)等全境12个县(市、区)均属中央苏区;改革开放后,三明还是全国精神文明建设的发祥地。

学校占地面积1312亩,各类建筑面积约33.56万平方米,其中教学行政用房面积16.65万平方米,学生公寓面积13.11万平方米。藏书220.39万册(含电子图书99.76万册)。教学仪器设备总值9838.45万元。信息化系统和网络应用基本满足办学需要。

学校现设有管理学院、艺术设计学院(鞋服学院)、信息工程学院、机电工程学院、资源与化工学院、建筑工程学院、海峡理工学院、海峡动漫学院、文化传播学院、外国语学院、体育学院、教育与音乐学院、旅游学院(经济学院)、国际学院、思想政治理论课教研部等15个教学机构,以及继续教育学院。已建成校级研究所12个。共有教职工928人,其中正高职称61人,副高职称190人,中级职称332人。专任教师673人,专任教师中具有研究生学位的教师占66%;高级职称占34%。省级教学名师2人,省级高层次人才10人。全日制在校生14622人。

学校立足三明,面向海西,服务于地方经济社会发展,构建了以工为重、以师为精,工、管、文、理、艺、教、经等多学科协调发展的学科专业体系。拥有机械工程、结构工程、生物学、生物化工、植物学、化学工程与技术等6个省级重点学科。学校设有42个本科专业,其中,艺术设计专业为教育部特色专业建设点;化学、数学与应用数学、汉语言文学、化学工程与工艺、政治学与行政学、小学教育等为省级特色专业建设点;生物技术、机械设计制造及自动化、计算机科学与技术等为校级特色专业。

学校不断深化教学改革,致力于产学研合作的应用型人才培养的探索与实践,全面实施教育质量和教学改革工程。“化学工程与工艺”专业入选教育部“卓越工程师教育培养计划第三批学科专业名单”。学校现有省级教学团队1个,省级科研团队1个,省部级重点实验室2个,省级实验教学示范中心5个,省部级重点研究基地10个,省级精品课程14门,省部级以上人才培养模式创新实验区8个,省部级以上卓越人才培养计划4个。科研促进教学作用得以强化,有8个福建省高校服务海峡西岸经济区建设重点项目,有省级创新平台12个,培育省级“2011协同创新中心”1个。《三明学院学报》被评为“全国优秀社科期刊”、“全国地方高校优秀学报”,入选“RCCSE中国核心学术期刊”。

学校积极推进闽台合作和国际合作,为教育部中外合作项目学校、省教育厅闽台合作项目学校和接收外国留学生学校。先后与台湾10所高校结为姊妹校,闽台合作向宽领域、深层次发展。2014年正式启动向澳门科技大学免试推荐研究生,与香港高等科技教育学院联合培养应用技术型本科“2+2”人才,并进行师生交流、科学研究等方面的合作。同时,与美国特拉华州立大学、美国旧金山州立大学、美国阿尔弗雷德大学、乌克兰卢甘斯克达拉斯-舍甫琴科国立大学、乌克兰М.П德拉戈马诺夫国立师范大学、新泽西理工大学、澳大利亚墨尔本理工管理学院、日本长崎卫斯理公会大学、韩国东亚细亚文化研究院、澳大利亚塔斯马尼亚皇家植物园等高校与机构建立了合作关系,并举办了中美合作体育教育项目和国际通识教育课程项目。

学校秉承“厚德博学”校训,努力营造良好的校风,涌现一批师生先进典型。其中有第三届全国“孝老爱亲”道德模范曹阳飞宇同学;“福建省师德标兵”、“感动福建2008年度十大人物”曹云露教授;有全国优秀教师2名;在全国高校辅导员年度人物评选中,2010年、2011年我校连续有两位辅导员荣获入围奖。学校获得全国精神文明建设工作先进单位、全国绿化先进集体、全国绿化模范单位、全国五四红旗团委、福建省文明学校、福建省高校安全稳定工作先进集体等荣誉称号。

学校致力于走注重内涵建设的特色发展之路,办学水平、教学质量得到了社会认可,连续三年毕业生就业率保持在95%以上,毕业生用人单位满意度较高。2010年春节期间,胡锦涛总书记参观考察厦门鼓浪屿时,我校旅游管理专业2008届毕业生陈慧君同学为总书记担任讲解员。

Sanming College is a provincial undergraduate university approved by the Ministry of Education in May 2004, which implements the provincial and municipal co-construction and city-based management system, and passed the qualification evaluation of undergraduate teaching work of the Ministry of Education in June 2012. The school, formerly known as Sanming higher College, was formed by the merger of Sanming normal College, Sanming Vocational University and Sanming normal School in October 2000. the history of running a school can be traced back to the all-Fujian normal School founded by Chen Baochen in 1903.

The school is located in Sanming City, a new industrial city in Fujian Province on the west bank of the Taiwan Strait and an excellent tourist city in China. Sanming is an old revolutionary base. Ninghua, Qingliu, domestication (now Mingxi County) and other 12 counties (cities and districts) in the area belong to the Central Soviet area. After the reform and opening up, Sanming is still the birthplace of the construction of national spiritual civilization.

The school covers an area of 1312 mu, with various construction areas of about 335600 square meters, including teaching administrative rooms of 166500 square meters and student apartments of 131100 square meters. A collection of 2.2039 million books (including 997600 e-books). The total value of teaching equipment is 98.3845 million yuan. Information systems and network applications basically meet the needs of running a school.

The school now has 15 teaching institutions, including the School of Management, the School of Art and Design (School of shoes and clothing), the School of Information Engineering, the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, the School of Resources and Chemical Engineering, the School of Architectural Engineering, the Taiwan Strait Institute of Technology, the School of Culture and Communication, the School of Foreign languages, the College of physical Education, the School of Education and Music, the School of Tourism (School of Economics), the International College, and the Department of ideological and political Theory. Based on Sanming, facing the West, serving the local economic and social development, the school has constructed a discipline and professional system that takes industry as the priority, teachers as the essence, and the coordinated development of engineering, management, liberal arts, science, art, education, economics and other disciplines. It has 6 provincial key disciplines, such as mechanical engineering, structural engineering, biology, biochemical engineering, botany, chemical engineering and technology. The school has 42 undergraduate majors, among which the art and design major is the characteristic specialty construction site of the Ministry of Education; chemistry, mathematics and applied mathematics, Chinese language and literature, chemical engineering and technology, political science and administration, and primary education are provincial characteristic specialty construction sites; biotechnology, mechanical design and manufacturing and automation, computer science and technology are school-level characteristic majors.

The school continuously deepens the teaching reform, devotes itself to the exploration and practice of the application-oriented personnel training of industry-university-research cooperation, and comprehensively implements the education quality and teaching reform project. The major of "Chemical Engineering and Technology" was selected into the third batch of disciplines and majors of the Education and training Program for Outstanding Engineers of the Ministry of Education. The school now has 1 provincial teaching team, 1 provincial scientific research team, 2 provincial and ministerial key laboratories, 5 provincial experimental teaching demonstration centers, 10 provincial and ministerial key research bases and 14 provincial quality courses. there are 8 innovative experimental areas for talent training at and above the provincial and ministerial level, and 4 excellent talent training programs at and above the provincial and ministerial level. The role of scientific research in promoting teaching has been strengthened. There are eight key projects of Fujian universities serving the construction of the economic zone on the west bank of the Taiwan Strait, 12 provincial innovation platforms, and one provincial "2011 Collaborative Innovation Center". "Journal of Sanming College" was awarded as "National excellent Journal of Social Science" and "National excellent Journal of Local Universities", and was selected as "RCCSE China Core academic Journal".

The school actively promotes Fujian-Taiwan cooperation and international cooperation, including the Foreign and Foreign Cooperation Program School of the Ministry of Education, the Fujian-Taiwan Cooperation Project School of the Provincial Education Department and the school for receiving foreign students. It has successively become sister schools with 10 universities in Taiwan, and the cooperation between Fujian and Taiwan has developed in a wide field and at a deep level.
