北京市第十五中学创建于1952年，是北京市重点中学，北京市首批示范高中校。

北京十五中毕业生具有强劲的竞争力，在学习成绩优秀的生源占有率不高的情况下，每年都有精彩的表现。2001年王玥同学摘取北京市高考文科状元的桂冠，赵佳同学名列北京市文科第四名;2006年原宣武区文科高考前5名学生中，十五中有3名;理科前5名中，十五中有2名，付潇鹏同学摘得原宣武区理科桂冠。2007年在10名同学进入清华、北大的同时，杜古丽成为原宣武区文科状元;2008年高考文科平均分位列原宣武区文科第一名;2009年高考成为原宣武区唯一一所文理科本科录取率均达到100%的学校，张缦缇再次成为原宣武区文科状元。

现有中考政策已经让北京中学的学生分布呈现了泾渭分明，整体切分的态势，但北京十五中始终坚持“低进高出、高进优出”的原则，对学生施以细致的关怀和照顾，让学生跨越式地提升了学业水平。
