湖南农业大学东方科技学院

湖南农业大学东方科技学院于2002年经湖南省人民政府和湖南省教育厅批准，由湖南农业大学、湖南丰泽家园房地产开发有限公司联合创办，是国家教育部首批确认的全日制本科独立学院。学院占地面积710亩，现有在校学生7534人，专职管理人员152人，专任教师540人，其中教授、副教授289人，目前，学院任课教师中，2/3来自于该校，1/3来自校外的各领域知名学者、成功人士以及全日制优秀硕士生。

湖南农业大学东方科技学院坐落于历史文化名城——长沙，位于久负盛名的浏阳河畔，设有经济管理、理工、人文社会科学、生命科学等四个学部，学院依托母体学校湖南农业大学的优势学科，改革创新，紧贴市场需求开设了本科专业38个，设有16个教学系、1个公共课部(下设10个教研室)。

学院秉承“质量立院、特色兴院、人才强院”的办学理念，坚持“励能笃行
知新致远”的院训精神，以“行业导学明目标、全程管理抓质量、优化课程强能力、校企联教塑特色”的教学模式;突出本科学历教育和职业素质培养一体化办学特色，致力于培养适应社会发展的复合应用型管理人才和技术人才。人才培养质量稳步提升，近年来我院学生获得全国数学竞赛国家级一等奖等突破性的成绩，在全国大学生英语演讲比赛、“挑战杯”大学生课外学术科技作品竞赛、国际模特大赛、全国农林院校大学生茶艺大赛、中南地区大学生结构设计大赛、湖南省大学生英语演讲比赛等国家级、省级奖励167项，主持30余项“湖南省大学生研究性学习和创新性实验计划”。学院考研上线人数逐年递增，2013年应届毕业生考取研究生考录研究生361人，其中23人被国外高校录取。同时学院先后与英国格林威治大学、澳大利亚南澳大学、加拿大北大西洋大学合作，现已有100余人前赴美国、英国、加拿大、澳大利亚、日本等国家接受联合培养。

院训

院训“励能笃行 知新致远”

励能：“励”为“劝勉、磨炼”之意，“能”语出《诗经》：“各奏尔能。”指才干和技能。“能”是教育的终身追求，励能即强调培养能力、磨炼技能，学有所长，指学院崇尚科学精神，积极开拓进取，不断提高教育教学水平、管理服务能力，坚持将理论与实践相结合，注重学生能力素质教育，强化技能训练，为国家和社会培养“有能有力，有为有位，知识扎实，技能出众”的高素质应用型人才。

笃行：意即专心实行，认真实践。源自《礼记·中庸》：“博学之，审问之，慎思之，明辨之，笃行之。”“笃”即忠贞不渝，踏踏实实，坚持不懈，充实而有恒。“笃行”也是为学的最后阶段，即努力践履所学，做到知行合一。它体现的是中华民族数千年来一贯重视的“身体力行、言行一致、修养践履、求真务实”的民族精神。寓意学院办学注重实践，师生持之以恒，追求知行合一;同时通过与丰富的社会实践相结合，在实践中砥砺品格，在实践中不断学习。

知新：源自《论语·为政》“温故而知新”，意为温习旧的知识，得到新的理解和体会。宋代程颢和程颐《二程集·河南程氏遗书》说：“君子之学必日新，日新者日进也。”“知新”即要求我们要不断学习、总结、思考以获得新的领悟、撷取新的知识、体会新的东西。不断追求新知、不断创新进取，这是学院推崇的精神。

致远：出自西汉《淮南子·主术训》：“是故非澹薄无以明德，非宁静无以致远，非宽大无以兼覆，非慈厚无以怀众，非平正无以制断。”在诸葛亮《诫子书》提到“非淡泊无以明志，非宁静无以致远”，意指达到远大的目标、实现远大的理想。“致远”表明学院实现兴旺发达的远大目标和个人达到日臻完善的理想境界，即告诉全体师生，无论是做人、做事还是做学问，应有一个高尚的品格和远大的志向，追求永无止境，要吸取古今中外文明精华，胸怀宽广，内外兼修,促使人与社会都趋于和谐、臻于至善。

“励能笃行，知新致远”的院训旨在体现东方科技学院的师生要积极培养能力、磨炼技能，践履所学，砥砺品格，追求新知，开拓创新，追求人与社会的至善境界。这是东方科技学院治学理念、求学精神和为人之道的高度概括与凝练。

The Oriental College of Science and Technology of Hunan Agricultural University was jointly founded by Hunan Agricultural University and Hunan Fengze Home Real Estate Development Co., Ltd. with the approval of Hunan Provincial people’s Government and Hunan Department of Education in 2002. It is the first batch of full-time independent colleges recognized by the Ministry of Education. The college covers an area of 710mu, with 7534 students, 152full-time managers and 540full-time teachers, including 289professors and associate professors. at present, among the teachers of the college, 2max is from the school, and 1pm is from well-known scholars, successful people and full-time excellent master’s degree students from outside the school.

The Oriental College of Science and Technology of Hunan Agricultural University is located in Changsha, a famous historical and cultural city, on the banks of the famous Liuyang River, with four departments of economic management, science and technology, humanities and social sciences and life sciences. relying on the superior disciplines of Hunan Agricultural University, the college has opened 38 undergraduate majors, including 16 teaching departments and 1 public department (10 teaching and research departments).

The academy training spirit of “knowing the new and leading to the future” is based on the teaching mode of “knowing the goal of the industry, grasping the quality of the whole process management, optimizing the strong ability of the curriculum, and shaping the characteristics of the joint teaching of universities and enterprises”, highlighting the characteristics of the integration of undergraduate education and professional quality training. it is committed to training compound applied management and technical talents who adapt to social development. The quality of personnel training has improved steadily. In recent years, our students have won the first prize of the national mathematics competition and other breakthrough achievements. there are 167 national and provincial awards in the National College English speech Competition, the Challenge Cup extracurricular academic and Scientific and technological work Competition, the International Model Competition, the National Tea Competition of Agricultural and Forestry College students, the structural Design Competition of College students in Central and South China, and the English speech Competition of College students in Hunan Province. Presided over more than 30 “Research-based Learning and innovative Experimental programs for College students in Hunan Province”. The number of graduates in the postgraduate entrance examination is increasing year by year. In 2013, 361 graduates were admitted to graduate students, 23 of whom were admitted by foreign universities. At the same time, the college has cooperated with Greenwich University in the United Kingdom, the University of South Australia in Australia and the University of the North Atlantic in Canada. Encouragement means to emphasize the cultivation of ability and hone skills, to learn well, to advocate the spirit of science, to forge ahead actively, to constantly improve the level of education, teaching and management service ability, to persist in combining theory with practice, to pay attention to students’ ability and quality education, to strengthen skills training, and to cultivate for the country and society “capable and powerful, promising, and solid knowledge.” High-quality applied talents with outstanding skills.

Practice: it means to put it into practice and practice conscientiously. It comes from the Doctrine of Rites: “erudite, interrogate it, think carefully, distinguish it, and practice it.” “Benedict” means faithfulness, steadfastness, perseverance, fullness and persistence. “Benediction” is also the final stage of learning, that is, to practice what you have learned and to achieve the unity of knowledge and practice. Zhiyuan: from the main technical training of Huainan Zi in the Western Han Dynasty: “therefore, it is not thin without clear virtue, without serenity, without leniency, without kindness and kindness with respect to the public, and without peace without judgment.” In Zhuge Liang’s “Book of Commandments”, it is mentioned that “there is no clear ambition without indifference, no distance without serenity”, which means to achieve lofty goals and realize lofty ideals. “Zhiyuan” shows that the college has achieved the lofty goal of prosperity and personal perfection, that is, it tells all teachers and students that no matter being a person, doing things or doing learning, there should be a noble character and lofty ambition, and the pursuit is endless.
