江苏省清浦中学创建于1952年，连续14年被评为江苏省文明单位。学校位于市区解放东路66号，与淮阴中学隔路相望，学校占地150亩，建筑面积近80000平方米，建有现代化高标准的教学楼
、实验楼 、科教楼 、艺术楼 、图书馆及400米标准环形塑胶跑道田径场。

办学规模

教职工156人，其中任课教师122人，高级教师17人，一级教师86人，高中教师80%以上达本科学历。学校党总支下设三个党支部，有六十四名党员。学校拥有一流的教学设施，除“三机一幕”进教室外，学校开设了两个学生微机室，语音室、学校管理微机室、教师备课微机室，九七年开通了学校闭路电视，有八个频道，建立了校园电视台。

该校先后三次获得市级“先进基层党组织”、市综合治理先进单位、市教育先进单位、市文明校园、市模范学校、市教科研先进单位、省红十字先进单位、1995年获省德育先进学校称号、1996年被定为省电教实验学校、1997年获省教育先进集体、江苏省文明单位称号，1998年通过省电教示范学校的验收，获市重点中学。
