　　20世纪五六十年代,中央领导董必武同志提议，周恩来总理亲自主持，开始筹备清史编纂工作，在成立清史编纂委员会同时，决定在中国人民大学成立清史研究所。1972年，为落实周恩来总理等中央领导同志的指示，经北京市委批准，成立清史研究小组。1978年，经教育部批准，在其基础上正式成立清史研究所。中国人民大学清史研究所成立以后，始终以清史研究、培养清史专门人才和纂修《清史》为首要任务，为新中国历史学科的发展作出了重要贡献。

　　中国人民大学清史研究所是教育部历史学科人才培养和科学研究基地之一,承担了“211工程‘九五’、‘十五’规划清史子项目”。目前拥有六个博士点(中国古代史、中国近现代史、专门史、历史文献学、历史地理学、史学理论与史学史)和六个硕士点(中国古代史、中国近现代史、专门史、历史文献学、历史地理学、史学理论及史学史)。1989年，中国古代史专业被国家教委定为全国高等学校重点学科点。1999年设立博士后流动站。现为国家历史学一级学科点所在单位。2007年，中国近现代史专业经过严格评选，被评为国家重点学科。

　　中国人民大学清史研究所在重点研究基地的建设中，进一步深化科研体制改革。在人员管理上推行择优上岗的竞争机制，由基地负责人与研究人员签定聘任合同，定期评估，逐步建立起机构开放、人员流动、内外联合、竞争创新的运行机制。

In the 1950s and 1960s, Comrade Dong Biwu, the leader of the Central Committee, proposed that Premier Zhou Enlai personally presided over the preparation of the compilation of Qing history. while setting up the Qing History compilation Committee, it was decided to set up the Qing History Institute at Renmin University of China. In 1972, in order to implement the instructions of Premier Zhou Enlai and other central leading comrades, a Qing History Research Group was established with the approval of the Beijing Municipal CPC Committee. In 1978, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, the Qing History Institute was formally established on its basis. Since the establishment of the Qing History Institute of Renmin University of China, it has always taken the study of Qing history, the training of Qing history professionals and the compilation of Qing history as the primary task, which has made an important contribution to the development of the history discipline of New China.

The Institute of Qing History of Renmin University of China is one of the historical personnel training and scientific research bases of the Ministry of Education. It has undertaken the & ldquo;211 Project & lsquo; Ninth five-year Plan & rsquo;, & lsquo; 15th & rsquo; Planning Qing Shi Zi Project & rdquo;. At present, there are six doctoral programs (Chinese ancient history, Chinese modern history, specialized history, historical philology, historical geography, historical geography, historiography theory and historiography) and six master’s degree programs (Chinese ancient history, Chinese modern history, specialized history, historical philology, historical geography, historiography theory and historiography history). In 1989, the major of ancient Chinese history was designated by the State Education Commission as a key subject in national colleges and universities. A postdoctoral mobile station was set up in 1999. Now it is the unit where the first-level discipline of national history is located. In 2007, the major of modern Chinese history was strictly selected as a national key discipline.

The Qing History Institute of Renmin University of China has further deepened the reform of the scientific research system in the construction of key research bases. In order to promote the competitive mechanism of taking up posts based on merit in personnel management, the person in charge of the base and the researchers sign an appointment contract, evaluate it regularly, and gradually establish an operating mechanism of institutional openness, personnel mobility, internal and external cooperation, and competition and innovation.
