厦门大学嘉庚学院

厦门大学嘉庚学院创办于2003年，是经国家教育部批准，由教育部直属重点大学厦门大学和厦门嘉庚教育发展有限公司共同举办的，按新机制和新模式运作的独立学院。2010年7月，学校获评“全国先进独立学院”。2011、2012年，学校获评“中国最具品牌价值独立学院”榜首。2013年，学校荣登“回响中国”最具领导力独立学院榜首。2014年，学校再次登上“回响中国”最具知名度独立学院榜首。

2003年10月21日，时任国务委员陈至立、福建省委副书记黄瑞霖为厦门大学嘉庚学院揭牌，掀开了嘉庚学院向优质大学奋进的历史。历经12年的跨越发展，嘉庚学院目前已设有涵盖理学、工学、文学、经济学、管理学、法学、艺术学等学科的5个分院、8个独立系、3个教学部、2个实践教学训练中心和1个科研中心，52个本科专业，79个专业方向，拥有在校本科生17790名、硕士研究生24名(与厦门大学联合培养)。嘉庚学院自办学之日起在福建省即在本二批次招生，生源质量逐年提高，2014年嘉庚学院在全国招收本一线上考生209人，全国本二线上考生数首次突破90%。嘉庚学院面向全国31个省(自治区、直辖市)招生，是福建省省属院校中省外生源比例最高的院校，省外学生人数占在校生人数的46.51%。

嘉庚学院地处被誉为“第二蛇口”的国家级招商局漳州开发区，占地2158亩。校园依山面海而建，与厦门大学思明校区隔海相望。校园建筑以嘉庚风格建筑为主，中西合璧，恢弘大气，错落于湖光山色之间，给学子们营造了沐浴书香、畅游学海、静学深思的修读氛围。

开门办学，强力推进国际合作，是嘉庚学院一直遵循的办学宗旨。在学校的专任教师队伍中，活跃着来自美国、英国、日本、澳大利亚等各国的外籍教师的身影。学校与美国、英国、日本、新加坡、加拿大、新西兰、澳大利亚、法国、荷兰等国家的多所高校开展了校际交流与合作，并与24所海外高校建立了人才培养合作关系。学校也积极与香港、台湾地区高校展开交流活动，与4所台湾地区大学建立校际合作关系。

Founded in 2003, Jiageng College of Xiamen University is an independent college operating according to the new mechanism and mode, approved by the Ministry of Education and jointly organized by Xiamen University and Xiamen Jiageng Education Development Co., Ltd. In July 2010, the school was awarded the “National Advanced Independent College”. In 2011 and 2012, the school was ranked first in the list of “Independent Colleges with the most Brand value in China”. In 2013, the school topped the list of the most leading independent colleges in Echo China. In 2014, the school once again topped the list of the most famous independent colleges in Echo China.

On October 21, 2003, Chen Zhili, then State Councilor, and Huang Ruilin, Deputy Secretary of the Fujian Provincial CPC Committee, unveiled the Jiageng College of Xiamen University, which opened the history of Jiageng College’s striving to become a high-quality university. After 12 years of leapfrog development, Jiageng College has 5 branches, 8 independent departments, 3 teaching departments, 2 practical teaching and training centers and 1 scientific research center covering science, engineering, literature, economics, management, law, art and other disciplines, 52 undergraduate majors and 79 professional directions. it has 17790 undergraduates and 24 postgraduates (jointly trained with Xiamen University). Jiageng College has enrolled students in the second batch of students in Fujian Province since the date of running the school, and the quality of students has improved year by year. In 2014, Jiageng College enrolled 209 first-line examinees across the country, and the number of national second-line candidates exceeded 90% for the first time. Jiageng College, which enrolls students from 31 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government), has the highest proportion of non-provincial students in Fujian Province, accounting for 46.51% of the total number of students.

Jiageng College is located in Zhangzhou Development Zone of State-level China Merchants Bureau, which is known as “the second Shekou”, covering an area of 2158 mu. The campus is built on the mountain facing the sea, across the sea from the Siming campus of Xiamen University. Campus architecture is mainly Jiageng style architecture, a combination of Chinese and Western, magnificent atmosphere, scattered in the lakes and mountains, creating a study atmosphere for students to bathe in the fragrance of books, travel and study the sea, and meditate.

“Student-centered” is the core school-running idea of Jiageng College. Jiageng College insists on using this concept to guide the practice of running a school, implementing the talent training model of “wide caliber, thick foundation, emphasizing ability and seeking individuality”, and carrying out the student work mode of “service and management”. Among the full-time teachers in the school, there are active foreign teachers from the United States, Britain, Japan, Australia and other countries. The school has carried out intercollegiate exchanges and cooperation with many universities in the United States, Britain, Japan, Singapore, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, France, the Netherlands and other countries, and has established a cooperative relationship of talent training with 24 overseas universities. The school has also actively carried out exchange activities with universities in Hong Kong and Taiwan and established intercollegiate cooperative relations with four universities in Taiwan.
