山东政法学院警官学院成立于2007年5月，是山东政法学院的二级学院之一。2006年6月，山东省监狱管理局与山东政法学院签署合作办学协议，联合培养监狱学专业本科学生。2007年5月，经省教育主管部门批准设立。自2007年开始招生，每年招收新生200人。在社会上，有些人习惯将这个专业学院称之为山东狱警学校或济南狱警学校，其实这是山东政法学院的二级学院。

山东政法学院警官学院是山东政法学院的院系之一，属于山东政法学院的二级学院。学院位于山东省省会城市济南，占地138.6亩，各类教学、训练及生活设施齐备。警官学院的成立和监狱学专业的开设，创新了办学形式和办学渠道，填补了山东省本科专业设置的一项空白。监狱学专业按照军事公安类专业列入普通院校本科提前批招生，考生须经政审、面试、体检和体能测试。办学规模为800-1000人。培养目标是通过对监狱学专业课程的系统学习、对警察实战技能的全面掌握和警务化管理的严格训练，主要面向监狱机关培养符合国家公务员标准的监狱人民警察。监狱学专业基本学制四年，学成后获得监狱学专业本科学历并授予法学学士学位。
