湖南科技大学潇湘学院直属于重点本科院校湖南科技大学所管，是经教育部正式批准的全日制本科独立学院。学院实行董事会领导下的院长负责制，由湖南科技大学校长任董事长。学院于2001年开始招生，现有在校学生7077人，学校占地面积390多亩。

依据教育部第26号令《独立学院设置与管理办法》，依托湖南科技大学，我院在教育理念、培养模式与教育手段等方面以人为本，质量为上，特色办学，以科学发展观统领全局，以“发展应用性教育，培养应用性人才”为宗旨，以社会需求为导向，科学合理地确立人才培养目标、模式和质量标准，培养适应社会和地方经济建设第一线实际需要的高级应用性专门人才。

学校设施

我院位于湖南省湘潭市，毗邻湖南科技大学，占地面积688亩，教学仪器设备总值4295余万元，图书58万多册，多媒体教室32个，语音室7个，计算机房9个，聘请高职称、高学历的教师担任教学工作。同时，由于毗邻湖南科技大学本部，可以充分利用校本部的优质教学资源，满足教学要求，保证教学质量。

新生入学后大部分可入住学生公寓。学生公寓为学生提供了优越的住宿条件，互联网和程控电话进入每个房间，房间设有专用洗漱间和卫生间，人均面积10平方米。优越的条件、优质的服务和严格的管理为学生营造了清洁、卫生、温馨的生活环境，学生宿舍曾被评为“湖南省标准化学生公寓”。学生普通宿舍和公寓的收费标准每人每年从600至1200元不等。

证书类别

学生学完规定课程，成绩合格，准予毕业，颁发由国家统一印制的湖南科技大学潇湘学院毕业证书。根据湖南省教育厅湘教通[2008]2号《关于普通本科高等院校学士学位证书发放及管理的补充通知》的规定“2008年录取的学生毕业时，如果本院获得了学士学位授予权，对符合学士学位授予条件的毕业生颁发本院的学士学位证书;如果本院仍未获得学士学位授予权，毕业生仍向本院的举办高校申请学士学位，对符合学士学位授予条件的毕业生授予举办高校注明了独立学院名称的写实性学士学位证书”。

招生计划

湖南科技大学潇湘学院所有专业在湖南省按照湖南省招生办规定的本科三批次录取，其它省份按照各省招生主管部门公布的批次录取。

2011年学院将在湖南、陕西、甘肃、山西、江苏、浙江、福建、江西、山东、河南、广东、广西、海南、重庆、四川、贵州、云南、新疆、河北、安徽、湖北、黑龙江、吉林、辽宁等24个省份计划招生2140人。
