全区义务教育阶段公办学校100%达到广东省标准化学校标准，民办学校规范化率100%，上等级率80%;公办幼儿园上等级率100%，民办幼儿园上等级率66%，规范化率93%。7所高中通过广东省国家级示范性普通高中督导验收。近年来先后荣获“全国家庭教育工作先进区”、“全国社区教育示范区”、“全国未成年人思想道德建设工作先进单位”等10项国家级荣誉，2010年成为 “广东省推进教育现代化先进区”。
