福州格致中学

福州格致中学始建于1846年，择于山北麓为校址，是西方教会在福建创办的最早的中等学校。其前身为“格致书院”、“福州私立格致中学”和“福州第五中学”。1992年经福州市人民政府批准，更名为福州格致中学。

格致中学校名取古代经典《大学》中“格物致知”之意。“格物致知”是全校师生躬行的准则，也是百年老校精神和传统的体现。学校治学严谨，蜚声八闽。格致校友中有在中华大地洒下殷殷热血的志士英烈，有共和国的将军和省部级领导，有拥护社会主义和祖国统一的著名爱国人士，有成绩卓著的中科院院士和科学家，有知名的书画家、艺术家和体育健将，更有数以万计的格致校友活跃在海内外的各行各业，为祖国和人类的进步事业作出自己的贡献。

Fuzhou Gezhi Middle School was founded in 1846 and chose the northern foot of the mountain as the school site. it is the earliest secondary school established by the western church in Fujian. Its predecessor is “Gezhi Academy”, “Fuzhou Private Gezhi Middle School” and “Fuzhou Fifth Middle School”. In 1992, with the approval of Fuzhou Municipal people’s Government, it changed its name to Fuzhou Gezhi Middle School.
