经过半个多世纪的不懈努力，辽宁大学已经成为一所具备文、史、哲、经、法、理、工、管等多学科的辽宁省惟一的综合性大学。学校现有三个校区，即沈阳崇山校区、沈阳蒲河校区和辽阳武圣校区，教学区占地面积2016亩，建筑面积61.8万平方米，是国家“211工程”重点建设院校之一。

辽宁大学初创于1948年11月东北人民政府在沈阳建立的商业专门学校，建校之初即招收四年制本科生。1958年9月15日，东北财经学院、沈阳师范学院和沈阳俄文专科学校合并，组建成辽宁大学，朱德同志亲笔题写了校名。

学校设有25个学院，即文学院、历史学院、哲学与公共管理学院、马克思主义学院、经济学院、商学院、国际关系学院、亚澳商学院、新华国际商学院、法学院、外国语学院、广播影视学院、本山艺术学院、化学院、信息学院、数学院、物理学院、生命科学院、环境学院、药学院、轻型产业学院、汉语国际教育学院、成人教育学院/继续教育学院、人文科技学院、公共基础学院。

学校现有专任教师1361人，其中教授243人、副教授435人，博士生导师72人，享受国务院政府特殊津贴专家83人，长江学者特聘教授1人，双聘院士1人。现有本科专业62个;一级学科硕士学位授权点20个，二级学科硕士学位授权点161个，其中设有EMBA(高级管理人员工商管理硕士)、MBA(工商管理硕士)、MPA(公共管理硕士)、JM(法律硕士)、MTCSOL(汉语国际教育硕士)、MFA(艺术硕士)等20个专业学位授权点;现有理论经济学、应用经济学、工商管理、中国语言文学、哲学、法学和化学等7个一级学科博士学位授权点，具有二级学科博士学位授权点62个，有3个博士后流动站;设有世界经济、国民经济学和金融学3个国家重点学科、32个省重点学科;设有国家经济学基础人才培养基地、高校辅导员培训与研修基地和教育部人文社会科学重点研究基地——转型国家经济政治研究中心。学校有2个国家级实验教学示范中心、7个省级人文社科重点研究基地、6个省级重点实验室、1个省工程技术研究中心、3个省级实验教学示范中心、6个中央与地方共建高校特色优势学科实验室、6个省高等学校创新团队。截止2010年底，学校有全日制在校学生2.7万余人，其中本科生2万余人，研究生6500余人，外国留学生1000余人。

自建校以来，辽宁大学已为国家培养各类学生13万余人，为美国、日本、俄罗斯、韩国、意大利、英国、法国等94个国家培养长期留学生8000余人，短期留学生3000余人。

学校现有校舍建筑面积61.8万平方米，各类实验教学中心(室)41个，实习基地123个，教学科研仪器设备总值15390万元。公共服务体系建设较为完善，图书馆总面积达4.2万平方米，馆藏文献230余万册，其中珍本、善本书300余种，被联合国出版部指定为联合国文献收藏图书馆，是国务院批准的“全国古籍重点保护单位”。学校设有历史博物馆、自然博物馆，珍藏2000余件文物和1.6万多号生物标本。校园网是中国教育和科研网的组成部分，已成为沈阳北部大学区域节点。

After more than half a century of unremitting efforts, Liaoning University has become the only comprehensive university in Liaoning Province with liberal arts, history, philosophy, classics, law, science, engineering, management and other disciplines. The school has three campuses, namely, Shenyang Chongshan Campus, Shenyang Puhe Campus and Liaoyang Wusheng Campus. The teaching area covers an area of 2016 mu and the construction area is 618000 square meters.

Liaoning University was founded in November 1948 as a commercial special school established by the Northeast people’s Government in Shenyang. It enrolled four-year undergraduates at the beginning of its establishment. On September 15, 1958, Northeast Institute of Finance and Economics, Shenyang normal University and Shenyang Russian College merged to form Liaoning University. Comrade Zhu de wrote the name of the school himself.

The school has 25 colleges. The school now has 1361 full-time teachers, including 243professors, 435associate professors, 72 doctoral supervisors, 83 experts who enjoy the special allowance of the State Council, 1 specially appointed professor of Changjiang scholars and 1 double academician. At present, there are 62 undergraduate majors, 20 master’s degree authorization points in first-tier disciplines and 161 master’s degree authorization points in second-tier disciplines, of which there are 20 professional degree authorization points, such as EMBA (Executive MBA), MBA (MBA), MPA (Master of Public Administration), JM (Master of Law), MTCSOL (Master of International Education in Chinese) and MFA (Master of Arts). At present, there are 7 doctorate authorization points in theoretical economics, applied economics, business administration, Chinese language and literature, philosophy, law and chemistry, 62 doctorate authorization points in second-tier disciplines and 3 postdoctoral stations; there are 3 national key disciplines of world economics, national economics and finance and 32 provincial key disciplines. It has a national training base for basic talents in economics, a training and research base for university counselors, and a key research base for humanities and social sciences of the Ministry of Education– the Economic and political Research Center of the transition countries. The school has 2 national experimental teaching demonstration centers, 7 provincial key research bases for humanities and social sciences, 6 provincial key laboratories, 1 provincial engineering and technology research center, 3 provincial experimental teaching demonstration centers, 6 central and local universities jointly build characteristic advantage discipline laboratories, and 6 provincial university innovation teams. By the end of 2010, the school had more than 27000 full-time students, including more than 20, 000 undergraduates, more than 6500 graduate students and more than 1000 foreign students.

Since its establishment, Liaoning University has trained more than 130000 students of all kinds for the country, and more than 8000 long-term students and 3000 short-term students for 94 countries, including the United States, Japan, Russia, South Korea, Italy, Britain and France.

The school has a construction area of 618000 square meters, 41 experimental teaching centers (rooms) and 123 practice bases, with a total value of 153.9 million yuan for teaching and scientific research equipment. The construction of the public service system is relatively perfect, with a total area of 42000 square meters and a collection of more than 2.3 million volumes, including more than 300 rare and rare books, which have been designated as the United Nations Literature Collection Library by the United Nations Publishing Department. it is the “national key protection unit of ancient books” approved by the State Council. The school has a history museum and a nature museum, which has a collection of more than 2000 cultural relics and more than 16000 biological specimens. Campus network is a part of China Education and Research Network, which has become the regional node of Shenyang Northern University.
