湛江一中培才学校是经湛江市教育局同意的民办全日制完全中学，由办学成绩名列全省前茅的广东省重点中学湛江第一中学主办。湛江市一级中学。
湛江一中培才学校秉承湛江一中“以人为本，和谐发展，力求冒尖”的办学理念和科学高效的管理模式，并结合实际，开拓创新。学校校服与湛江一中本部校服相同，体现了一中人的风范。

湛江一中培才学校为私立学校，通过每年7月招生考试，达到分数线，即可加入培才。

入学考试题目主要为基础，但也有一些基础以上的拓展题目，语文有文言文，数学有拓展提高题，英语主要为小学知识，总体难度不大，每个科目满分均为100分。

如果通过考试，分班情况将在8月初在校园网显示，届时可登陆查询。分班情况后，不允许转班。每年共招40个教学班，其中35个为平行班，5个为双语班。每个班教学内容基本一致，只是双语班的数学和英语进度会快于平行班

学校占地面积280亩。校内有主教学楼6幢，每间教室有完善的多媒体平台;先有教师500余名，其中，每一位教师均经过特别培训，每一位教师均有大学以上学历。其中，数学老师陈文才为全国优秀教师，现任初一(20)班班主任，同时兼任(21)班老师。湛江一中培才学校与湛江一中实行教学资源共享，多位一中教师调入培才任教。拥有优美的校园环境、完善的教学设施、先进的教学设备、规范的教育管理和最雄厚的师资力量。
