学校历史

建校112年来,学校一直被誉为“鄂西北人才的摇篮”。早期共产党人肖楚女、谢远定曾在这里任教并播撒革命的火种;一代又一代五中人在这里辛勤耕耘,6万多名学子成才报国,中华人民共和国最高人民检察院原检察长黄火青,武汉大学原校长、著名教育家刘道玉,打破百年物理定律的美国麻省理工学院机械工程系首位华裔掌门人、美国工程院院士陈刚,中南大学博士生导师、中国工程院院士桂卫华……均从这里走向全国,走向世界。

改革开放以来,学校顺应时代的潮流,弘扬“文明、振奋、求实、创新”的校风,塑造具有“敬业、爱岗、拼搏、奉献”的教师形象,逐步形成具有一流的校园环境、一流的教学设施、一流的师资队伍、一流的管理水平和一流的教育质量的历史名校。

图书馆藏书130,000余册,有32个理、化、生国家标准实验室,108个多媒体教室、8个网络教室、1个电子阅览室、1个录播教室和4个通用技术教室,建立了校园网、电视台、广播站,设有形体训练房、力量训练房、美术画室、科技小制作室、书画室、棋社、艺术馆、状元桥文学社等活动室。馆、室、场齐全,内部装备配套,能充分满足教学和第二课堂需要。

襄阳五中现有93个教学班,在校学生人数6000余人;在岗职工383人,其中专任教师337人。市级以上优秀教师、学科带头人、骨干教师140余名,优秀奥林匹克教练40多人,具有研究生学历的教师100多人,先后涌现出享受国务院和省政府津贴的专家6人,省特级教师27名,湖北名师3名,全国劳模2名,省劳模3名;4名青年教师获优质课国家一等奖,40多名青年教师在优质课比赛等活动中获湖北省一等奖,一大批青年教师获得市优质课一等奖;近年来,五中教师在省级以上核心刊物公开发表论文近400篇,“十五”、“十一五”、“十二五”期间省级、国家级立项课题达30多项。

Xiangyang No. 5 Middle School was founded in 1902. It is called Xiangyang Middle School and its predecessor is Lumen Academy. From the middle school, it has gone through the stages of Hubei No. 10 Middle School, Provincial No. 5 Middle School, Provincial No. 5 Senior Middle School, Provincial Xiangyang Middle School, Xiangfan City No. 5 Middle School, Xiangyang No. 5 Middle School and so on. In 1953, it was listed in the first batch of 5 key middle schools in Hubei Province. In 1981, it was listed as the first batch of 20 key high schools in Hubei Province; in 2001, it was named Hubei Model High School by the Provincial Government Education Supervision Office and the Provincial Education Department.

School history

Since its establishment 112 years ago, the school has been known as “the cradle of talents in northwest Hubei”. Xiao Chunu and Xie Yuanding, early communists, taught here and sowed the fire of the revolution. Generation after generation of No. 5 Middle School people have worked hard here, more than 60,000 students have become talents to serve the country, Huang Huoqing, former procurator general of the Supreme people’s Procuratorate of the people’s Republic of China, Liu Daoyu, former president of Wuhan University and famous educator. Chen Gang, the first Chinese head of the mechanical engineering department of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and academician of the American Academy of Engineering, and Gui Weihua, doctoral supervisor of Central South University and academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, who broke the laws of physics for a century. All go from here to the whole country and to the world.

Since the reform and opening up, the school has complied with the trend of the times, carried forward the school spirit of “civilization, excitement, realism and innovation”, created the image of teachers with “dedication, love, hard work and dedication”, and gradually formed a famous historical school with first-class campus environment, first-class teaching facilities, first-class teaching staff, first-class management level and first-class educational quality.
