　　山东大学是中国近代高等教育的起源性大学。其医学学科起源于1864年，开启近代中国高等医学教育之先河。其主体是1901年创办的山东大学堂，是继京师大学堂之后中国创办的第二所国立大学，也是中国第一所按章程办学的大学。从诞生起，学校先后历经了山东大学堂、国立青岛大学、国立山东大学、山东大学以及由原山东大学、山东医科大学、山东工业大学三校合并组建的新山东大学等几个历史发展时期。百余年间，山东大学秉承“为天下储人才，为国家图富强”的办学宗旨，践行“学无止境，气有浩然”的校训，踔厉奋发，薪火相传，形成了“崇实求新”的校风，为国家和社会培养了60余万各类人才，为国家和区域经济社会发展做出了重要贡献。

　　学校规模宏大，实力雄厚。总占地面积8000余亩（含青岛校区约3000亩）， 形成了一校三地（济南、威海、青岛）的办学格局。现有4所附属医院，3所非隶属附属医院，11所教学、实习医院。拥有在职教职工7493人（不含附属医院）。各类全日制学生达6万人，其中，全日制本科生40789人，研究生18816人，留学生3791人。学校汇聚了一批杰出人才，共有教授1246人，博士生导师897人。其中，诺贝尔物理学奖获得者Peter Grünberg受聘为特聘教授，研究生导师莫言教授荣获2012年诺贝尔文学奖。学校现有中国科学院和工程院院士12人，“长江学者奖励计划”特聘教授37人、青年项目入选者5人；国家杰出青年科学基金获得者41人、优秀青年科学基金获得者29人；“万人计划”领军人才21人、教学名师5人、青年拔尖人才11人；国家百千万人才工程入选者32人；泰山学者攀登计划入选者15人、泰山学者特聘教授（专家）90人、泰山学者青年专家48人。

Shandong University is the origin of higher education in modern China. Its medical discipline originated in 1864, which opened the beginning of higher medical education in modern China. Its main body is Shandong University, which was founded in 1901. It is the second national university established in China after Beijing University, and it is also the first university in China to run a school in accordance with the regulations. Since its birth, the school has gone through several periods of historical development, such as Shandong University, National Qingdao University, National Shandong University, Shandong University and the new Shandong University formed by the merger of the former Shandong University, Shandong Medical University and Shandong University of Technology. The school has a large scale and strong strength. It covers a total area of more than 8000 mu (including about 3000 mu of Qingdao campus), forming a school-running pattern of one school and three places (Jinan, Weihai and Qingdao). At present, there are 4 affiliated hospitals, 3 non-affiliated hospitals and 11 teaching and practice hospitals. It has 7493 in-service staff (excluding affiliated hospitals). The school has gathered a group of outstanding talents, including 1246 professors and 897 doctoral supervisors. Among them, Peter Gr ü nberg, the winner of the Nobel Prize in Physics, was appointed as a distinguished professor, and Professor Mo Yan, the tutor of graduate students, won the 2012 Nobel Prize for Literature. At present, the school has 12 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Engineering, 37 specially appointed professors of the Yangtze River Scholars Award Scheme and 5 selected youth programs; 41 winners of the National Outstanding Youth Science Fund and 29 winners of the Outstanding Youth Science Fund; 21 leading talents of the Ten Thousand talents Plan, 5 famous teachers and 11 top-notch young talents; 32 people were selected in the National 10 million Talent Project. There are 15 candidates for Mount Tai Scholars climbing Program, 90 specially appointed professors (experts) for Mount Tai scholars, and 48 young experts for Mount Tai Scholars.
