　　山西工商学院创办于1986年，2004年经山西省人民政府批准成立山西工商职业学院，2011年经教育部批准升格为山西省第一所本科层次的民办普通高等院校。

　　学校坐落于历史悠久、人文荟萃的国家历史文化名城——山西省省会太原市，现有龙城、北格两个校区，建筑面积37.17万平方米；教学科研仪器设备总值10093.59万元；图书馆馆藏纸质图书164.08万册，纸质期刊2.34万册，电子图书46.85万册,电子期刊11.82万册。校内建有8个实践教学中心和3个生产性实习实训基地，其中，传媒实验教学中心和旅游管理综合模拟实训中心是省级实验教学示范中心；校外建有82个实习实训基地，每个专业均建有稳定的实习实训基地。

　　学校现有专任教师845人，其中自有专任教师669人。自有专任教师中具有硕士及以上学位的教师550人，具有高级职称的教师207人，“双师双能型”教师211人。省级教学名师4人，校级教学团队5个。

　　学校下设12个二级学院和2个教学部，全日制在校生16302人，其中本科生15631人。现开设33个本科专业，初步形成了以管理学为主，工学、艺术学、经济学、文学、教育学等多学科协调发展的学科专业建设格局。舞蹈编导、工商管理、会计学、广播电视编导、学前教育、视觉传达设计、土木工程7个专业被评选为校级优势专业，其中，舞蹈编导专业、工商管理专业入选山西省高等学校优势专业建设项目。学校积极开展教学研究，近三年，主持承担省级教改创新项目10项，获省级教学成果奖3项。

　　学校注重开展应用科学研究，成立了新晋商研究中心、高等教育研究所、美学教育研究所等6个研究机构。近三年，主持承担各级各类科研课题185项，其中，国家级课题1项，省部级课题94项；发表论文965篇，科研成果获奖21项，授权专利和软件著作权7项，出版专著、教材45部。工商管理学科入选山西省“1331工程”优势特色学科建设计划，举办了两期“工商管理学科高峰论坛”，成立了“山西省本科高校工商管理学科战略联盟”。

　　学校将创新创业教育融入人才培养全过程，强化学生就业创业指导和服务工作，出资100万元设立创业基金。在省内高校中率先建立的大学生创业园，被山西省科技厅认定为省级众创空间；学校被评为山西省首批“深化创新创业教育改革示范高校”；4名导师入选全国万名优秀创新创业导师人才库。近三学年，学生参加各类竞赛获省级及以上奖150项，其中国家级奖32项；学校毕业生就业率均在95%以上。

Shanxi Industrial and Commercial College was founded in 1986. Shanxi Industrial and Commercial Vocational College was established with the approval of the people’s Government of Shanxi Province in 2004. In 2011, it was upgraded to the first private ordinary university at the undergraduate level in Shanxi Province with the approval of the Ministry of Education.

The school is located in Taiyuan, the capital of Shanxi Province, which has a long history and a collection of humanities. It has two campuses, Longcheng and Beige, with a construction area of 371700 square meters; the total value of teaching and scientific research equipment is 100.9359 million yuan; the library has 1.6408 million paper books, 23400 paper periodicals, 468500 e-books and 118,200 e-periodicals. There are 8 practical teaching centers and 3 productive practical training bases in the university, among which the media experimental teaching center and tourism management comprehensive simulation training center are provincial experimental teaching demonstration centers, and 82 practical training bases are set up outside the school. each major has a stable practice and training base.

The school now has 845 full-time teachers, of which 669 are full-time teachers. Among the full-time teachers, there are 550 teachers with master’s degree or above, 207 teachers with senior professional titles, and 211 teachers with “double teachers and dual abilities”. There are 4 provincial famous teachers and 5 school-level teaching teams.

The school has 12 secondary colleges and 2 teaching departments, with 16302 full-time students, including 15631 undergraduates. At present, there are 33 undergraduate majors, which has initially formed a discipline construction pattern with the coordinated development of engineering, art, economics, literature, pedagogy and other disciplines. Seven majors, including dance choreographer, business administration, accounting, radio and television choreographer, preschool education, visual communication design and civil engineering, were selected as school-level dominant majors, among which, dance choreographer and business administration major were selected as the dominant specialty construction projects of colleges and universities in Shanxi Province. The school has actively carried out teaching research. In the past three years, it has presided over 10 provincial education reform innovation projects and won 3 provincial teaching achievement awards.

The school attaches importance to the development of applied scientific research, and has set up six research institutions, including the New Jin Merchants Research Center, the Institute of higher Education and the Institute of Aesthetic Education. In the past three years, he has presided over 185 scientific research projects at all levels, including 1 at the national level, 94 at the provincial and ministerial level, 965 papers published, 21 awards for scientific research achievements, 7 authorized patents and software copyrights, and 45 monographs and teaching materials. The discipline of business administration was selected into the construction plan of advantageous and characteristic disciplines of “1331 Project” in Shanxi Province, held two “Business Administration discipline Summit forums”, and established the “Strategic Alliance of Business Administration disciplines of undergraduate Universities in Shanxi Province”.

The school integrates innovation and entrepreneurship education into the whole process of personnel training, strengthens students’ employment and entrepreneurship guidance and services, and invests 1 million yuan to set up a venture fund. The College Student Entrepreneurship Park, which was first established among the colleges and universities in the province, was recognized as the provincial mass innovation space by the Science and Technology Department of Shanxi Province; the school was rated as the first batch of “demonstration universities for deepening the reform of innovation and entrepreneurship education” in Shanxi Province, and four mentors were selected into the talent pool of ten thousand outstanding innovation and entrepreneurship mentors in the country. In the past three academic years, students have won 150 provincial and above awards in various competitions, including 32 national prizes, and the employment rate of school graduates is more than 95%.
