河南职业技术学院的前身为河南省机器制造技工学校，创建于1954年12月。1956年更名为河南省工人技术学校，1960年更名为河南省工业技术师范学校，1961年更名为河南省技工教育师范学校，1992年更名为河南职业技术教育学院。1999年3月，经国家教育部批准改制为新型高等职业院校，现在是100所国家示范高职院校之一。学院先后被确定为国家级高技能人才培训基地、国家职业教育数控技术实训基地、国家汽车运用与维修专业技能型紧缺人才培养培训基地、首批国家高技能人才培养示范基地、省级技能人才公共实训鉴定示范基地、河南省博士后研发基地、河南省高技能人才培训基地、海尔人才培养基地等。

学院位于省会郑州市，占地面积1240亩，建筑面积近50万㎡。各类在校生达1.9万余人。学院共有在职教职工761人，具有副高以上职称的教师近300人，有获国务院特殊津贴教师3名，省教学名师4人，省教育厅学术技术带头人14人，近200名技师和高级技师，还从行业企业聘请了200多名能工巧匠和技术能手作校内兼职教师。

学院教学仪器设备总值近1亿元，各类图书藏量120余万余册，各类金属切削机床、数控车床、铣床、加工中心和数控电火花机床等300余台，各种型号的实训小轿车、面包车和客车40多辆，有400亩园林花卉和占地100多亩的驾校实训基地。学院拥有机电实训中心和汽车维修实训中心两个国家级实训基地，建成了与之配套的生产型车间，形成了前校后厂的格局，提供真实生产性的实训实习条件。另外还有餐旅实训中心、环艺实训中心、信息工程实训中心、工商管理实训中心、音乐学院实训中心和学院计算机中心等8个实训中心，拥有各类实验实训室154个，大多数具有仿真或真实职业工程氛围。同时学院还与德国工商协会、海尔集团、许继集团、郑州宇通客车股份有限公司、浙江开元旅业集团和广东三正集团等200多家知名企业，联合建立了长期稳定的校外实习基地。

学院实行院、系两级管理，现设有机电工程系、电气工程系、烹饪食品系、旅游管理系、信息工程系、工商管理系、环境艺术工程系、汽车工程系、音乐学院、附属技校等10个系(院、校)及基础教学部、思想政治理论教学部、继续教育学院等3个教学部。开设有47个专业和28个专业方向，其中有4个国家示范重点专业，7个省级示范重点建设专业，4个省级特色专业和省级教育教学改革试点专业。课程建设整体水平较高，省级精品课程7门。

Henan Vocational and Technical College, formerly known as Henan Machine Manufacturing Technical School, was founded in December 1954. It changed its name to Henan Workers’ Technical School in 1956, Henan Industrial Technical normal School in 1960, Henan Technical Education normal School in 1961 and Henan Vocational and Technical Education College in 1992. In March 1999, it was approved by the Ministry of Education to be transformed into a new type of higher vocational college, and now it is one of the 100 national model higher vocational colleges. The college has been identified as the national high-skilled personnel training base, the national vocational education numerical control technology training base, the national automobile application and maintenance professional skill shortage training and training base, the first national high-skilled personnel training demonstration base, the provincial skilled personnel public training and appraisal demonstration base, Henan province postdoctoral research and development base, Henan province high-skilled personnel training base, Haier talent training base and so on.

The college is located in Zhengzhou, the provincial capital, covering an area of 1240 mu and a building area of nearly 500000 square feet. There are more than 19000 students in all kinds of schools. The college has 761 in-service staff, nearly 300 teachers with the title of deputy high school or above, 3 teachers with special subsidy from the State Council, 4 provincial teachers, 14 academic and technical leaders of the Provincial Department of Education, and nearly 200 technicians and senior technicians. More than 200 skilled craftsmen and technical experts have also been employed as part-time teachers in the school.

The total value of teaching equipment of the college is nearly 100 million yuan, more than 1.2 million books of all kinds, more than 300 metal cutting machines, CNC lathes, milling machines, machining centers and CNC EDM machines, more than 40 training cars, vans and passenger cars of various types, 400 mu of garden flowers and a driving school training base covering an area of more than 100 mu. The college has two national training bases, the mechanical and electrical training center and the automobile maintenance training center, and has built a matching production workshop, forming the pattern of the factory before and after the school, and providing real and productive training and practice conditions. In addition, there are eight training centers, including dining and travel training center, environmental art training center, information engineering training center, business administration training center, music college training center and college computer center, with 154 experimental training rooms of all kinds. Most of them have a simulated or real professional engineering atmosphere. At the same time, the college has jointly established a long-term and stable off-campus practice base with more than 200 well-known enterprises, such as the German Industry and Commerce Association, Haier Group, Xuji Group, Zhengzhou Yutong bus Co., Ltd., Zhejiang Kaiyuan Tourism Group and Guangdong Sanzheng Group.

The college implements two-level management at the college and department levels. At present, there are 10 departments (colleges, schools), including the Department of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, the Department of Electrical Engineering, the Department of Cooking Food, the Department of Tourism Management, the Department of Information Engineering, the Department of Business Administration, the Department of Environmental Art Engineering, the Department of Automotive Engineering, the Conservatory of Music, and the affiliated Technical School, as well as the basic Teaching Department, the ideological and political Theory Teaching Department, and the College of continuing Education. There are 47 specialties and 28 specialties, including 4 national demonstration key majors, 7 provincial demonstration key construction majors, 4 provincial characteristic majors and provincial education and teaching reform pilot majors. The overall level of curriculum construction is high, with 7 provincial quality courses.
