浙江工业大学是一所综合性的浙江省属重点大学,始建于1953年,其前身可以追溯到1910年创立的浙江中等工业学堂,先后经历了杭州化工学校(1953年6月~1958年6月),浙江化工专科学校(1958年6月~1960年8月)、浙江化工学院(1960年2月~1980年10月)、浙江工学院(1978年2月~1993年2月)和浙江工业大学(1993年12月至今)等发展阶段,几易校址,数历分合。浙江省经济管理干部学院、杭州船舶工业学校、浙江建材工业学校分别于1994年、1999年和2001年并入浙江工业大学。经过几代工大人的艰苦创业和不懈奋斗,学校目前已发展成为国内有一定影响力的综合性的教学研究型大学,综合实力稳居全国高校百强行列。2009年6月8日,浙江省人民政府和教育部签订共建协议,浙江工业大学进入省部共建高校行列。2013年5月,由学校牵头建设的长三角绿色制药协同创新中心入选国家2011计划,成为全国首批14家2011协同创新中心之一。

学校坐落于历史文化名城、世界著名的风景游览胜地-浙江省杭州市。学校设朝晖、屏峰、之江三个校区,占地面积3000余亩,校园环境优雅,是读书治学的理想园地。学校现有69个本科专业,学科涵盖哲学、经济学、法学、教育学、文学、理学、工学、农学、医学、管理学、艺术学等11大门类,设有24个学院2个部。学校现有6个博士后流动站;有博士学位授权二级学科32个,涉及一级学科8个,其中博士学位授权一级学科5个;有硕士学位授权二级学科115个,涉及一级学科32个,其中硕士学位授权一级学科24个;具有工商管理硕士、工程硕士、农业推广硕士、药学硕士、教育硕士、艺术硕士、新闻与传播硕士、公共管理硕士、法律硕士等9种专业学位授予权;具有硕士研究生免试推荐权和外国留学生、港澳台学生招生权。学校现有固定资产总值40.21亿元。图书馆面积6万余平方米,藏书(含电子图书)887万余册,中外期刊35776种。

学校师资力量雄厚,现有教职工3450人,其中专任教师2289人,正高级职称教师484人,副高级职称教师1031人,具有博士学位的教师1221人。拥有中国工程院院士2人、共享中国科学院和中国工程院院士3人、国家级有突出贡献中青年专家7人、国家级教学名师3人、国家杰出青年基金获得者4人、中央千人计划入选者4人、教育部长江学者特聘教授1人、教育部创新团队2个、国家级教学团队2个、各类国家级人才培养计划入选者27人次、浙江省特级专家5人、浙江省有突出贡献中青年专家20人、浙江省千人计划入选者29人、浙江省特聘教授30人。现有普通全日制本科学生28502人;在读各类研究生8902人(博士研究生595人,硕士研究生8307人);成人教育学生20000余人;留学生866人。

学校坚持厚德健行的校训,把提高教育质量放在突出位置,努力培养能够引领、推动浙江乃至全国经济和社会发展的精英人才。建校60年来,为国家培养了各类优秀人才近20万人。2003年学校以优秀的成绩通过教育部本科教学工作水平评估。近年来,学生生源质量不断提高,学生实践创新能力不断提高,近三年在各类高水平大学生科技竞赛中获国际级奖33项、国家级奖151项,毕业生深受用人单位青睐,本科生初次就业率保持在93%以上,研究生初次就业率保持在95%以上。

Zhejiang University of Technology is a comprehensive key university in Zhejiang Province, founded in 1953. Its predecessor can be traced back to the Zhejiang Secondary Industrial School founded in 1910, and has experienced Hangzhou School of Chemical Technology (June 1953-June 1958). Zhejiang College of Chemical Technology (June 1958-August 1960), Zhejiang Institute of Chemical Technology (February 1960-October 1980), Zhejiang Institute of Technology (February 1978-February 1993) and Zhejiang University of Technology (December 1993 to the present). On June 8, 2009, Zhejiang Provincial people’s Government and the Ministry of Education signed a co-construction agreement, and Zhejiang University of Technology entered the ranks of provincial colleges and universities. In May 2013, the Yangtze River Delta Green Pharmaceutical Collaborative Innovation Center, led by schools, was selected into the National 2011 Plan and became one of the first 14 2011 collaborative innovation centers in the country.
