贵州民族大学创建于1951年5月17日,隶属贵州省人民政府,是新中国创建最早的民族院校之一。是贵州省重点建设高校,是贵州省人民政府和国家民委共建高校,是教育部本科教学工作水平评估优秀等次高校,
是接受中国政府奖学金来华留学生高等院校。

学校共有两个校区,分别坐落于山清水秀、被誉为“高原明珠”的贵州风景名胜区——贵阳市花溪区和贵安新区大学城,占地面积2825亩、校舍面积69.5万平方米。学校图书馆有纸质图书163.7万册、电子图书103万册、电子期刊1.4万种。

学校拥有一支结构合理、发展趋势良好的师资队伍。现有教职工1400人,其中专任教学科研人员960人,具有正高职称人员160人(其中二级教授11人),副高职称540人。具有博士学位人员201人,硕士学位人员690人,博士生、硕士生指导教师431人。有全国杰出专业技术人才1人、国家有突出贡献中青年专家2人,新世纪“百千万人才工程”国家级人选3人、享受国务院特殊津贴专家11人、国家哲学社会科学基金评审委员3人、教育部专业指导委员会委员5人、全国优秀教师3人、教育部高校青年教师奖1人、教育部新世纪优秀科技人才3人,有贵州省核心专家2人、省管专家18人、省高校哲学社会科学黔灵学者1人、享受省政府特殊津贴专家10人、省高校哲学社会科学学术带头人7人、省级高校“教学名师”9人。

学校面向全国31个省(市、自治区、直辖市)招生,现有全日制在校生16500人,另有合作办学独立学院本科生7000多人。自建校以来,已经为社会输送近10万名各级各类人才,不少人已成为全国尤其是西南地区各行业和学科领域的骨干力量。

经过64年的实践和建设,学校已经发展成为以人文科学、社会科学、工学为主要学科,经济学、法学、管理学、文学、历史学、教育学、理学、工学、艺术学等9个学科相互支撑、协调发展的综合性大学,并形成了以本科教育为主体,研究生教育、预科教育、继续教育协调发展的办学格局。学校设有研究生院、商学院、法学院、民族学与社会学学院、体育学院、文学院、外国语学院、传媒学院、音乐舞蹈学院、美术学院、理学院、化学与环境科学学院、计算机与信息工程学院、建筑工程学院、旅游与航空服务学院、管理学院、预科教育学院、继续教育学院(高职学院)、马克思主义学院、国际教育学院、人文科技学院等21个学院,建有计算机网络中心、工程实训中心、图书馆等教学辅助单位。

学校设有74个普通本科专业、28个本科专业方向,6个一级学科硕士点,50个学术型硕士点,4个专业学位硕士点,
1个服务国家特殊需求博士人才培养项目,4个研究生工作站。国家级建设平台有4个国家级特色专业、1门国家级精品视频公开课。国家民委建设平台有2个国家民委重点学科、3个国家民委人文社科研究基地。省级建设平台有:5个省级特色重点学科、3个省级重点学科、8个省级特色专业。有2个省级重点实验室、4个省级实验教学示范中心、2个省级“协同创新中心”、3个贵州省高校人文社科研究基地、4个省级研究生教育创新基地、2个省级人才培养基地。5个省级教学创新团队、1个省级科技创新人才团队。有9门省级精品课程。

学校十分重视科研工作。先后成立了贵州民族文化艺术研究院、贵州民族科学研究院、贵州民族经济研究院、西南夜郎文化研究院、西南傩文化研究院、水书文化研究院、法学研究院、贵州地方法治研究院、贵州世居民族文化研究院、贵州茅台镇酒文化研究院、民族建筑设计研究院等11个研究院。另外,贵州省民族文化学会、贵州省苗学会、贵州省布依学会、贵州省侗学会、贵州省土家学会、贵州省彝学会、贵州省仡佬学会、贵州省水家学会、贵州省回族学会等9个省级民族学会及其研究中心均挂靠我校,形成了较强的民族文化研究阵容。

近五年来,主持或参与省部级以上科研项目500多项,其中国家级科研课题100多项,国家哲学社会科学研究重大攻关项目2项,教育部哲学社会科学研究重大攻关项目1项,获省部级以上各类科研奖48项。教师在省级以上学术刊物上发表学术论文5000余篇,其中SCI、EI、ISTP检索及核心期刊论文1000余篇,出版专著200余部。

目前,学校已发展成为贵州少数民族干部培训基地、贵州少数民族人才培养基地、贵州少数民族预科教育基地、贵州少数民族双语教学基地、贵州民族体育教学基地、贵州世居民族文化研究基地、法制与民族地区发展研究基地、贵州民族文化生态研究基地。我校积极开展并探索校校、校企、校地、校所以及国际合作的协同育人新机制和开放式办学的新途径,有力地推动了我校的建设发展,为更好地服务少数民族和民族地区经济社会发展提供了有力支持。

尤其是在国际间的交流合作方面,先后与美国、日本、澳大利亚、新西兰、挪威、新加坡、英国、法国、荷兰、韩国、马来西亚等国家的高校和港、台地区大学建立了合作关系,开展互派留学生、学术交流、教师培训和科研合作。现有来自美国、比利时、韩国、日本、老挝、越南、哈萨克斯坦、柬埔寨等15个国家留学生近200人。

学校四次被国务院评为全国民族团结进步模范单位,并获全国文明单位、全国‘三五’法制宣传教育先进单位、全国‘四五’法制宣传教育先进单位、全国节约型公共机构示范单位、教育部依法治校示范学校、贵州省‘五五’法制宣传教育先进单位、贵州省民族团结进步先进集体、贵州省精神文明建设先进集体、贵州省文明单位、贵州省优美校园、贵州省绿色大学、贵阳市红旗文明单位,先后十三年被中宣部、团中央和国家教育部评为全国大学生优秀志愿者服务队和全国大学生社会实践先进单位。

学校历来得到党和国家领导人及中央有关部委、中共贵州省委、省人民政府及省直有关部门的高度重视与亲切关怀,胡耀邦、江泽民、胡锦涛、温家宝、李瑞环等都曾到我校视察。江泽民同志来我校视察时,作了“发展民族教育、加强民族团结”的题词,并为我校题写校名。我校50华诞,江泽民同志又为全国民族院校作了“努力发展民族教育,促进各民族共同繁荣”的题词;胡锦涛同志还亲自与我校师生在学校南大门旁植下“共青林”。

历经64年的建设,学校已经发展成为贵州民族人才的成长摇篮,民族文化的传承纽带,民族学术的研究中心,民族团结的培育基地,民族地区的发展智库。全校师生秉承和发扬“奋发蹈厉,庄敬自强”精神,以提高人才培养质量为中心,努力促进学校规模、结构、质量、效益协调发展,奋力向国内高水平一流民族大学迈进。

Guizhou University for nationalities, founded on May 17, 1951, under the people’s Government of Guizhou Province, is one of the earliest universities for nationalities in New China. It is a key university in Guizhou Province, a university jointly built by the people’s Government of Guizhou Province and the State ethnic Affairs Commission, and an excellent university for undergraduate teaching level evaluation of the Ministry of Education.

There are 2 core experts in Guizhou Province, 18 provincial management experts, 1 Qianling scholar of philosophy and social sciences in provincial universities, 10 experts enjoying the special allowance of the provincial government, 7 academic leaders of philosophy and social sciences in provincial universities, and 9 “famous teachers” in provincial universities.

The school enrolls students from 31 provinces (municipalities, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government). There are 16500 full-time students and more than 7000 undergraduates from independent colleges. Since the establishment of the school, it has provided nearly 100000 talents of all levels and types to the society, and many of them have become the backbone of various industries and disciplines in the whole country, especially in the southwest region.

There are nearly 200 students from 15 countries, including the United States, Belgium, South Korea, Japan, Laos, Vietnam, Kazakhstan and Cambodia.

The school has been rated as a model unit of national unity and progress by the State Council for four times.
