西安邮电大学是由陕西省人民政府与工业和信息化部共建院校，坐落于历史名城西安南郊文化区，是一所以工为主，以信息科学技术为特色，工、管、理、经、文、法、艺多学科协调发展的普通高等学校，是国家在西北地区布局的唯一一所邮电通信类高等学校、陕西高水平大学建设高校、教育部“卓越工程师教育培养计划”实施高校、中国人民解放军后备军官选拔培养基地、全国首批试办边防军人子女预科班的高校。学校先后荣获陕西省“先进集体”、 “文明校园”“平安校园”、 “依法治校示范校”，西安市人民政府授予“园林式单位”、 “陕西高等学校先进基层党委”称号。

学校占地1500余亩，建有长安、雁塔两个校区，现有全日制在校生18000多人。设有研究生院、通信与信息工程学院、电子工程学院、计算机学院、自动化学院、理学院、经济与管理学院、人文社科学院、外国语学院、数字艺术学院、国防教育学院、国际教育学院、继续教育学院、体育部、马克思主义教育研究院、物联网与两化融合研究院等教学科研机构。现有11个一级学科硕士学位授权点;47个二级学科硕士学位授权点;5个工程硕士授权领域、1个会计专业学位授权点和1个工商管理硕士专业学位授权点，43个本科专业，6个省部级重点学科，6个部级重点实验室，4个省级重点研究中心。近3年来，获本科教学工程国家级立项3项、省级立项36项，省级教改立项9项，获省级教学成果7项，省级优秀教学成果4项，学校拥有1个国家级工程实践教育中心和5个省级教学团队，获批各级各类本科教学工程、教改项目、教学成果60余项。专任教师总数1000余人，具有高级职称者440余人。教师队伍中有国家“千人计划”特聘专家、新世纪“百千万人才工程”国家级人选、教育部新世纪优秀人才支持计划人选、陕西省“百人计划”特聘专家、国家有突出贡献中青年专家、享受国务院政府特殊津贴专家、全国优秀教师、省级教学名师等50余人，双聘院士6人，客座教授90多人。

学校立足陕西，面向行业，积极开展信息科学技术的创新和应用研究，不断提升科学研究水平，加快科技成果转化，在优势特色研究领域形成了比较优势。近年来，全校教师共发表论文5000多篇，出版著作400余部，承担国家“863”计划、国家自然科学基金、国家社会科学基金、国家软科学研究计划、国家重大科技专项等国家级和省部级科研项目280余项，获国家级省部级科技成果奖励40余项，“40Gb/sSDH(STM—256)光纤通信设备与系统”获2008年国家科技进步二等奖，“TD—SCDMA基站系统关键技术研究、设备研制及产业化项目”获2009年国家科技进步二等奖”，“虎符TePA网络安全国际标准关键技术及其应用”2010年被国际标准化组织(ISO/IEC)批准为国际标准。2012年12月我校作为承担单位之一的“无线网络安全技术国家工程实验室”正式挂牌。获批陕西省法庭科学电子信息实验研究中心、公安部重点实验室、陕西省(13115)通信专用集成电路设计工程技术研究中心、陕西省通信片上系统工程研究中心、信息产业发展研究中心(陕西省高校哲学社科重点研究基地)陕西省网络与信息安全技术支持中心、陕西省两化融合创新研究中心、、陕西省信息产业发展研究中心、陕西省高性能计算研究中心、陕西省信息化工程研究院、陕西省互联网数据设计与分析工程实验室、陕西信息产业知识产权研究中心、陕西省博士后创新基地等省级创新平台相继落户我校。学校依托这些平台，在社会服务方面取得了显著成绩，为推动陕西经济社会建设和行业发展做出了积极贡献。

学校先后与德国、美国、英国、法国、加拿大、韩国、日本、澳大利亚等十多个国家和香港、台湾地区的40余所大学、学术机构建立了合作关系，与美、英、德、法等国多所大学签署了“1+2+1”、“2+2”、“3+2”等合作培养协议。学校先后为亚太和东盟国家培养了多批电信领域的中高级技术人员和管理人员。学校还是国际电联中国互联网培训中心之一，与美国思科公司、印度塔塔公司及国内的华为公司、中兴通讯、大唐电信、各省通信运营企业、邮政企业等建立了科研和人才培训方面的战略合作关系。

建校60多年来，为国家培养了7万多名优秀人才，毕业生大多在电信、移动、联通、邮政等通信运营企业及华为公司、大唐电信、中兴通信、诺基亚等通信制造企业或高校、研究机构工作，成为所在单位的业务骨干，深受用人单位欢迎。国防生毕业后成为我军和国防现代化建设的高素质信息化人才。学校以“为企业提供最短时间能适应企业工作的优秀人才”为培养目标，通过与企业的合作，探索出“企业对接定制培养”、“3+1 创新教育培养”等多种人才培养模式，开辟了学生就业的有效途径，提高了毕业生的就业能力。近年来，本科生就业率90%以上，在省属高校名列前茅。新华社、《人民日报》、中央电视台、《光明日报》、《科技日报》、《中国教育报》、《中国青年报》、《人民邮电报》、《陕西日报》、陕西电视台等媒体多次宣传我校改革发展成就。

Xi’an University of posts and Telecommunications, jointly built by the people’s Government of Shaanxi Province and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, is located in the cultural district of the southern suburbs of the historic city of Xi’an. It is an ordinary university with the coordinated development of engineering, management, science, economics, liberal arts, law and art. It is the only post and telecommunications university in northwest China, the construction of Shaanxi High-level University, the implementation of the Education and training Program for Outstanding Engineers of the Ministry of Education, the selection and training base for reserve officers of the Chinese people’s Liberation Army, and the first batch of colleges and universities in the country to run preparatory classes for the children of border guards. The school has won the titles of “Advanced Collective”, “civilized Campus”, “safe Campus” and “running a demonstration School according to Law” in Shaanxi Province. Xi’an Municipal people’s Government has awarded the titles of “Garden-style Unit” and “Advanced Grass-roots Party Committee of Shaanxi Colleges and Universities”.

The school covers an area of more than 1500 mu and has two campuses of Chang’an and Yanta, with more than 18000 full-time students.
