西南政法大学

西南政法大学位于中国长江上游地区的中央直辖市重庆，是新中国最早建立的高等政法学府，改革开放后全国首批重点大学，全国首批卓越法律人才教育培养基地，教育部与重庆市人民政府共建高校。

西南政法大学的前身为1950年创建的由刘伯承元帅担任校长的西南人民革命大学。1953年，以西南人民革命大学政法系为基础，合并当时的重庆大学法学院、四川大学政法学院、重庆财经学院法律系、贵州大学法律系、云南大学法律系，正式成立西南政法学院，郭沫若先生题写院名，首任院长是抗日民族英雄、原东北抗日联军第二路军总指挥周保中将军。1958年，中央公安学院重庆分院并入学校。

学校先后经历了由中共中央西南局、四川省、最高人民法院、司法部、教育部和重庆市共建的管理模式。“文革”期间曾一度被迫停办。1977年，经中共中央批准恢复招生。1978年，被国务院批准为全国重点大学，同年在全国政法院校中率先开办法学及哲学、国际共运史3个本科专业，其中法学专业招生人数占全国招生人数的二分之一。1979年，开始招收法学硕士研究生及全国首批刑事侦查专业本科生。1993年，被国务院学位委员会批准为博士学位授权单位。1995年，经原国家教委批准更名为西南政法大学;同年，被国务院学位委员会确定为法律硕士专业学位教育全国首批试点单位。2003年，被国务院学位委员会批准为全国首批法学一级学科博士学位授权单位。2004年，经国家人事部批准设置法学博士后科研流动站。2012年3月，经教育部批准为自主招生试点高校;同年8月，经教育部批准成为首批卓越法律人才教育培养基地，共有应用型复合型法律职业人才教育培养基地、涉外法律人才教育培养基地、西部基层法律人才教育培养基地3种类型;同年10月，教育部和重庆市人民政府正式签署共建西南政法大学协议。

Located in Chongqing, the central municipality directly under the Central Government in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, Southwest University of political Science and Law is the earliest institution of higher political science and law established in New China. After the reform and opening up, the first batch of key universities and the first batch of education and training bases for outstanding legal talents in the country, the Ministry of Education and the Chongqing Municipal people’s Government jointly built colleges and universities.

The predecessor of Southwest University of political Science and Law was the Southwest people’s Revolutionary University founded in 1950 with Marshal Liu Bocheng as its president. In 1953, based on the Department of Politics and Law of Southwest people’s Revolutionary University, the Department of Law of Chongqing University, the School of Politics and Law of Sichuan University, the Department of Law of Chongqing College of Finance and Economics, the Department of Law of Guizhou University and the Department of Law of Yunnan University were merged to formally establish the Southwest College of political Science and Law. Mr. Guo Moruo wrote the name of the academy. The first dean was General Zhou Baozhong, the national hero of the Anti-Japanese War and the former commander of the second Route Army of the Northeast Anti-Japanese Allied Army. In 1958, the Chongqing Branch of the Central Public Security College was incorporated into the school.

The school has experienced a management model jointly built by the Southwest Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, Sichuan Province, the Supreme people’s Court, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Education and Chongqing. It was once forced to suspend operations during the Cultural Revolution. In 1977, the enrollment was resumed with the approval of the CPC Central Committee. In 1978, it was approved as a national key university by the State Council. in the same year, it took the lead in offering three undergraduate majors in law, philosophy and the history of international communist movement in political and law colleges across the country, of which the number of students majoring in law accounted for 1/2 of the national enrollment. In 1979, we began to enroll graduate students with master of law and the first batch of undergraduates majoring in criminal investigation. In 1993, it was approved as a doctoral degree authorized unit by the academic degrees Committee of the State Council. In 1995, with the approval of the former State Education Commission, it changed its name to Southwest University of political Science and Law; in the same year, it was identified by the academic degree Committee of the State Council as the first batch of pilot units of law master’s degree education in the country. In 2003, it was approved by the academic degrees Committee of the State Council as the first batch of authorized units for doctoral degrees in the first-tier discipline of law. In 2004, the law postdoctoral research mobile station was set up with the approval of the Ministry of personnel. In March 2012, it was approved by the Ministry of Education as a pilot university for independent enrollment, and in August of the same year, it became the first batch of excellent legal talent education and training bases. there are three types: applied compound legal professional education and training base, foreign-related legal talent education and training base, western grass-roots legal talent education and training base. In October of the same year, the Ministry of Education and the Chongqing Municipal people’s Government formally signed an agreement on the joint construction of Southwest University of political Science and Law.
