中南民族大学

中南民族大学是一所直属国家民族事务委员会的综合性普通高等院校，坐落于白云黄鹤的故乡——武汉南湖之滨。学校前身为中南民族学院，创建于1951年，2002年3月更名为中南民族大学。建校以来，学校始终坚持社会主义办学方向，贯彻落实党的教育方针和民族政策，始终坚持党的民族工作规律与高等教育规律相结合，民族高等教育的特殊性与普通高等教育的普遍性相结合，遵循高等教育的普遍规律，尊重民族高等教育的特殊性，努力探索办好民族院校的新路子，学校的各项事业获得了快速发展。

学校占地1554亩，校舍面积100万余平米，馆藏图书280余万册，拥有全国高校第一家民族学博物馆。校园内绿树成荫、花香四季，具有浓郁民族特色的现代建筑鳞次栉比，湖光山色与人文景观交相辉映，构成了教学、科研和生活的优美环境。

学校现有56个民族的全日制博士、硕士、本科、预科等各类学生26000余人，面向全国31个省(市、自治区)招生，在湖北、河南、内蒙、新疆、广西、西藏、云南、宁夏、山西等9个省(区)进入第一批招生，新生第一志愿录取率超过90%，少数民族学生比例达到60%以上。现有教职工2000余人，其中专任教师1300余人。教师中，有正副教授750余人，博士、硕士生导师450余人，有新世纪百千万人才工程国家级人选4人，享受国务院政府特殊津贴29人，省部级专家34人，拥有博士、硕士研究生学位教师比例达到89%，形成了一支数量充足、结构优化、素质较高、发展良好的师资队伍。

学校始终坚持“面向少数民族和少数民族地区，为党和国家的民族工作服务、为少数民族和民族地区的经济与社会发展服务”的办学宗旨，开设了10大学科门类的82个本科专业;拥有民族学一级学科博士学位授权点和8个二级学科博士点,4个湖北省立项建设博士点，有博士后科研流动站;拥有18个学术型一级学科硕士授权点，80个学术型二级学科硕士授权点，9个硕士专业(13个专业领域)学位授权点。授权学科覆盖了除军事学之外的其他全部12个学科门类，包括哲学、法学、文学、历史学、经济学、管理学、教育学、工学、理学、医学、农学、艺术等。学校现有省部级一级重点学科9个，一级重点建设学科2个，二级重点学科4个，有5个国家级特色专业建设点，7个省级品牌专业，23门国家、省级精品课程，12个国家级、省级实验教学示范中心，33个省部级科研机构(实验室、基地、中心)，实验教学仪器设备总值约2.4亿元。

2008年学校成为“推荐优秀应届本科毕业生免试攻读硕士学位”授予权单位。2012年至2014年，学校承担各级各类科研项目1538项，其中国家级项目217项，省部级项目418项，获省部级以上成果奖励73项，出版著作191部，在核心期刊以上刊物发表论文近2300篇，获授权专利73项。学校高度重视学生全面素质的提升和创新能力的培养，以“笃信好学，自然宽和”的校训激励各族学生奋发图强、全面发展。60余年来，学校已累计培养了11万余名各民族干部和专业技术人才。他们遍布祖国的四面八方，为维护民族团结与稳定，促进少数民族和民族地区的经济与社会发展做出了积极的贡献。

随着教育改革与开放的不断深入，学校加快了对外交流、开放办学的步伐。目前，学校已与美国、英国、澳大利亚、加拿大、俄罗斯、德国、日本、韩国、法国等数十个国家(地区)的几十所大学建立了校际交流与合作关系。2008年学校与美国威斯康星州立大学联合创办了“孔子学院”。学校定期选派优秀的本科生和研究生到国外访问、交流、学习，选派教师出国讲学、进修和从事科学研究，也聘请外国专家来校执教和开展合作，扩大了学校在国际上的学术影响。

近年来，学校事业发展提质增速。2001年，在教育部本科教学工作随机性水平评估中获得优秀;2002年更名为中南民族大学;2003年9月，成为国家民委与武汉市人民政府共建院校;2005年5月学校被国务院授予“全国民族团结进步模范集体”荣誉称号;2006年，在教育部本科教学工作水平评估中再度荣获优秀;2008年，学校获“国家民委文明单位”称号;2009年获全国普通高等学校毕业生就业工作先进集体称号;2010年获教育部高校校园文化建设优秀成果三等奖;2001年至今连续12年6次被评为湖北省最佳文明单位。

在新的历史起点上，学校以党的十八大，十八届三中、四中全会，中央民族工作会议精神为指导，以国家经济社会发展战略要求、民族地区现代化建设需求和学生全面发展需要为导向，以全面深化改革为动力，以推进学校治理体系和治理能力现代化建设为目标，大力实施“质量立校、学科兴校、人才强校、特色荣校”战略，全面推进依法治校，扎实推动学校由教学型向教学研究型转变，努力把学校建设成为特色鲜明、人民更加满意的高水平民族大学。

The school, formerly known as Central South Institute for nationalities, was founded in 1951 and changed its name to Central South University for nationalities in March 2002. Since its establishment, the school has always adhered to the socialist direction of running a school, implemented the party’s educational policy and ethnic policy, and always adhered to the combination of the party’s law of ethnic work and the law of higher education. the particularity of ethnic higher education is combined with the universality of general higher education, follow the universal law of higher education, respect the particularity of ethnic higher education, and strive to explore new ways to run colleges and universities for nationalities. The various undertakings of the school have developed rapidly.

The school covers an area of 1554 mu, covers an area of more than 1 million square meters, has a collection of more than 2.8 million books, and has the first ethnology museum in colleges and universities. The campus is shady with trees and flowers for four seasons, modern buildings with strong national characteristics row upon row, lakes and mountains reflect each other with humanistic landscape, forming a beautiful environment for teaching, scientific research and life.

The school now has more than 26000 full-time doctoral, master’s, undergraduate, preparatory and other students from 56 ethnic groups, enrolling students from 31 provinces (municipalities and autonomous regions) across the country. In the first batch of enrollment in 9 provinces (regions), including Hubei, Henan, Inner Mongolia, Xinjiang, Guangxi, Tibet, Yunnan, Ningxia and Shanxi, the first voluntary admission rate of freshmen is more than 90%, and the proportion of ethnic minority students is more than 60%. At present, there are more than 2000 teaching staff, including more than 1300 full-time teachers. Among the teachers, there are more than 750 full and associate professors, more than 450 supervisors of doctoral and master’s degree students, 4 candidates at the national level of the talent project in the new century, 29 people enjoying the special subsidy of the State Council, and 34 experts at the provincial and ministerial level. the proportion of doctoral and master’s degree teachers has reached 89%, forming a team of teachers with sufficient number, optimized structure, high quality and good development.

Adhering to the tenet of “facing ethnic minorities and minority areas, serving the ethnic work of the Party and the state, and serving the economic and social development of ethnic minorities and ethnic minority areas”, the school has set up 82 undergraduate majors in 10 major disciplines; it has doctoral programs in ethnology first-tier disciplines, 8 doctoral programs in second-level disciplines, 4 project construction doctoral programs in Hubei Province, and postdoctoral research mobile stations. It has 18 academic first-level discipline master authorization points, 80 academic second-level discipline master authorization points, and 9 master degree authorization points (13 professional areas). Authorized disciplines cover all 12 disciplines except military science, including philosophy, law, literature, history, economics, management, pedagogy, engineering, science, medicine, agriculture, art and so on. At present, the school has 9 provincial and ministerial first-level key disciplines, 2 first-level key construction disciplines and 4 second-level key disciplines. there are 5 national characteristic specialty construction sites, 7 provincial brand specialties, 23 national and provincial quality courses, 12 national and provincial experimental teaching demonstration centers, 33 provincial and provincial scientific research institutions (laboratories, bases, centers). The total value of experimental teaching equipment is about 240 million yuan.

In 2008, the school became the granting unit of “recommending excellent fresh graduates to study for a master’s degree without examination”. From 2012 to 2014, the school undertook 1538 scientific research projects at all levels, including 217 national projects, 418 provincial and ministerial projects, 73 provincial and ministerial achievement awards, published 191books, nearly 2300 papers in core journals and above, and 73 authorized patents. The school attaches great importance to the improvement of students’ overall quality and the cultivation of innovative ability, and encourages students of all ethnic groups to work hard and develop in an all-round way with the school motto of “loving learning and natural harmony”. Over the past 60 years, the school has trained more than 110000 cadres and professional and technical personnel of various nationalities. They have spread all over the motherland and have made positive contributions to safeguarding national unity and stability and promoting the economic and social development of ethnic minorities and ethnic minority areas.

With the deepening of educational reform and opening up, schools have accelerated the pace of foreign exchanges and opening up. At present, the school has established intercollegiate exchanges and cooperation with dozens of universities in dozens of countries (regions), such as the United States, Britain, Australia, Canada, Russia, Germany, Japan, South Korea, France and so on. In 2008, the school jointly founded the Confucius Institute with Wisconsin State University in the United States. The school regularly sends outstanding undergraduates and graduate students to visit, exchange and study abroad, and sends teachers to give lectures, further studies and engage in scientific research abroad. It also invites foreign experts to teach and cooperate with the school, thus expanding the school’s academic influence in the international arena.

In recent years, the development of the school has improved its quality and growth rate. In 2001, it was excellent in the evaluation of the random level of undergraduate teaching work of the Ministry of Education; in 2002, it changed its name to Central South University for nationalities; in September 2003, it became an institution jointly built by the State Civil Affairs Commission and the people’s Government of Wuhan City; in May 2005, the school was awarded the honorary title of “National National Unity and Progress Model Collective” by the State Council; in 2006, it again won the excellent title in the undergraduate teaching level evaluation of the Ministry of Education. In 2008, the school was awarded the title of “civilized Unit of the State Civil Affairs Commission”; in 2009, it was awarded the title of Advanced Collective in Employment of graduates of ordinary Colleges and Universities; in 2010, it was awarded the third Prize for excellent Achievement of Campus Culture Construction in Colleges and Universities of the Ministry of Education; from 2001 to now, it has been awarded as the best civilized unit in Hubei Province for 6 consecutive years.

At the new historical starting point, the school is guided by the spirit of the 18th CPC National Congress, the third and fourth Plenary sessions of the 18th CPC Central Committee, and the Central ethnic work Conference. It is guided by the strategic requirements of national economic and social development, the needs of modernization construction in ethnic minority areas and the needs of students’ all-round development, with the overall deepening of reform as the driving force, and promoting the modernization of school governance system and governance capacity as the goal.
