汕头大学

　　汕头大学位于广东省汕头市，是1981年经国务院批准成立的广东省“211工程”重点建设综合性大学，教育部“卓越医生教育培养计划”试点高校，是教育部、广东省、李嘉诚基金会三方共建的省部共建大学，也是全球唯一一所由私人基金会——李嘉诚基金会持续资助的公立大学。

　　学校坐落在海滨城市汕头的西北区，占地面积1920.18亩，建筑面积44.84万平方米。汕头大学围绕“有志、有识、有恒、有为”的育人目标，致力于建设成一所有特色、国际化、受人重视的现代化高等学府。

　　2009年，科研经费首次突破4000万元，比增36.9%。2012年，汕头大学科研立项经费达8135万元，比2011年增长15.7%。其中国家自然科学基金和国家社科基金等各类国家级项目71项，批准经费达3,951.84万元。 学校2010年被科学引文索引扩展版(SCIE)收录论文236篇，收录数创历年之最;被SCI收录的期刊平均影响因子由2006年的1.65提高至2011年的2.59，为历年最高值;2005-2009年，共有323篇SCI收录论文被引用913次，在全国高校排名中列第76名。在“2012中国高校Nature & Science论文排行榜”中，汕大论文篇均被引次数全国最高。

　　截止到2013年，学校有国家重点实验室3个：国家教育部智能制造技术重点实验室;分子肿瘤学国家重点实验室分室;肿瘤病理学研究室。

　　广东省重点实验室5个：广东省海洋生物重点实验室;广东省数字信号与图像处理技术重点实验室;CAD/CAM中心;多学科研究中心;海洋生物研究所。

　　广东省高校重点实验室3个：数学研究所;工程结构研究所;高等教育研究所。

　　广东省重点产业科技创新平台1个(汕头轻工装备研究院);广东省高校产学研结合示范基地4个((轻工装备产学研结合示范基地、水产生态养殖与水产品加工产学研结合示范基地、风电机组控制系统产学研结合示范基地、智能医学超声诊断系统产学研结合示范基地);广东省高校工程技术研究中心2个(地方政府发展研究所;华文文学研究中心)。

Shantou University, located in Shantou City, Guangdong Province, is a key comprehensive university of Guangdong Province “211 Project” approved by the State Council in 1981, and a pilot university of the Ministry of Education’s “excellent Doctor Education Program”. It is a provincial and ministerial university jointly built by the Ministry of Education, Guangdong Province and Li Ka-shing Foundation, and it is also the only public university in the world continuously funded by the Li Ka-shing Foundation, a private foundation.

The school is located in the northwest of the seaside city of Shantou, covering an area of 1920.18 mu and a construction area of 448400 square meters. Focusing on the educational goal of “aspiring, knowledgeable, persistent and promising”, Shantou University is committed to building a modern institution of higher learning with all characteristics, internationalization and attention.

In 2009, funding for scientific research exceeded 40 million yuan for the first time, an increase of 36.9%. In 2012, the funding for scientific research projects of Shantou University reached 81.35 million yuan, an increase of 15.7% over 2011. Among them, there are 71 state-level projects, such as the National Natural Science Foundation and the National Social Science Fund, with approved funds reaching 39.5184 million yuan. In 2005, the average impact factor of journals included by SCI increased from 1.65 in 2006 to 2.59 in 2011, the highest value. From 2005 to 2009, a total of 323 papers cited by SCI were cited 913 times, ranking 76th in the national university rankings. In the ranking list of Nature & Science papers of Chinese Universities in 2012, Shantou University papers are cited the most frequently in the country.

As of 2013, the school has three state key laboratories: the key Laboratory of Intelligent Manufacturing Technology of the Ministry of Education; the State key Laboratory of Molecular Oncology; and the Laboratory of tumor Pathology.

There are five key laboratories in Guangdong Province: Guangdong key Laboratory of Marine Biology; Guangdong key Laboratory of Digital signal and Image processing Technology; CAD/CAM Center; Multidisciplinary Research Center; Institute of Marine Biology.

There are three key laboratories in colleges and universities in Guangdong Province: Institute of Mathematics; Institute of Engineering structure; Institute of higher Education.

One scientific and technological innovation platform for key industries in Guangdong Province (Shantou Light Industry equipment Research Institute); four demonstration bases for the combination of production, learning and research in colleges and universities in Guangdong Province (demonstration base for the combination of production, learning and research in light industrial equipment, demonstration base for the combination of aquaculture and aquatic product processing, demonstration base for the combination of industry, university and research in wind turbine control system, demonstration base for the combination of industry, university and research in intelligent medical ultrasonic diagnosis system) There are 2 engineering and technology research centers in universities in Guangdong Province (Local Government Development Institute and Chinese Literature Research Center).
