中共中央党校创建于1933年3月13日，是轮训和培训中国共产党的高中级领导干部和马克思主义理论干部的最高学府，是中国共产党中央直属的重要部门，是学习、研究、宣传马列主义、毛泽东思想和中国特色社会主义理论体系的重要阵地和干部加强党性锻炼的熔炉，是党的哲学社会科学研究机构。

原中共中央总书记、国家主席、中央军委主席胡锦涛同志在1993至2002年期间担任中央党校校长。现任校长由中共中央政治局常委刘云山兼任，常务副校长李景田，副校长陈宝生、李书磊、张伯里、徐伟新，教育长贾高建。学校领导机构是校务委员会，下设马克思主义理论、哲学、经济学、科学社会主义、政法、中共党史、党的建设、文史等八个教研部和国际战略研究所，并设有教务、科研、组织人事、行政后勤等职能部门。在学员管理方面，设有进修部、培训部、研究生院三个部门：进修部负责省部级、地厅级干部、县(市)委书记的轮训;培训部负责中青年后备干部以及新疆、西藏等少数民族干部的培训;研究生院负责培养马克思主义理论学科的博士、硕士研究生和党校系统师资。中央党校还设有中直机关分校、中央国家机关分校、部队分部、国资委分校等，培训相应级别的干部。

中央党校是国家批准的博士、硕士学位授权单位，现有博士授权点23个，硕士授权点33个。从1981年起，培养了博士生811人，硕士生1646人。截至2013年底，学校有工作人员1100多人，每学期在校学员1600人左右。

The Party School of the CPC Central Committee, founded on March 13, 1933, is the highest institution for rotational training and training of senior and middle-ranking leading cadres of the Communist Party of China and Marxist theoretical cadres. It is an important department directly under the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. It is an important position for studying, studying and publicizing Marxism-Leninism, Mao Zedong thought and the theoretical system of socialism with Chinese characteristics, and a melting pot for cadres to strengthen their party spirit. It is a philosophy and social science research institution of the Party.

Comrade Hu Jintao, former general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, state president, and chairman of the Central military Commission, served as president of the Central Party School from 1993 to 2002. The current president is Liu Yunshan, member of the standing Committee of the political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, Li Jingtian, executive vice president, Chen Baosheng, Li Shulei, Zhang Boli, Xu Weixin, and Jia Gaojian, director of education. The leading body of the school is the school council, which consists of eight teaching and research departments and international strategic research institutes, including Marxist theory, philosophy, economics, scientific socialism, politics and law, the history of the Communist Party of China, party building, literature and history, and other functional departments such as educational administration, scientific research, organization and personnel, administrative logistics, and so on. In terms of student management, there are three departments: the Advanced Studies Department, the training Department, and the Graduate School: the Advanced Studies Department is responsible for the rotational training of provincial and ministerial-level cadres, prefectural and departmental cadres, and county (city) party committee secretaries; the training Department is responsible for the training of young and middle-aged reserve cadres, as well as cadres of Xinjiang, Tibet and other ethnic minorities; and the graduate school is responsible for training doctoral and master’s degree students of Marxist theory and teachers of the party school system. The Central Party School also has branches of organs directly under the CPC Central Committee, branches of central state organs, branches of the armed forces, and branches of the State-owned assets Supervision and Administration Commission to train cadres at corresponding levels.

The Central Party School is a state-approved authorized unit for doctoral and master’s degrees, with 23 doctoral and 33 master’s degrees. Since 1981, it has trained 811 doctoral students and 1646 master’s degree students. By the end of 2013, the school had more than 1100 staff and about 1600 students per semester.
