西南民族大学

西南民族大学是一所包括文、史、哲、经、管、法、教、理、工、农、医、艺等12个学科门类的综合性民族高等学校，坐落于天府之国，芙蓉之都的锦绣成都，与闻名中外的武侯祠毗邻。学校前身为西南民族学院，创建于1950年7月，于1951年6月1日正式成立，2003年4月更名为“西南民族大学”，是在周恩来、邓小平、王维舟等老一辈无产阶级革命家亲自关怀下，新中国最早建立的民族院校之一，由国家民族事务委员会主管。学校占地面积近3000亩，在成都市有武侯校区(老校区)、航空港校区(新校区)、太平园校区，在阿坝州红原县有“西南民族大学青藏高原生态保护与畜牧业高科技研究示范基地”，校舍建筑面积112万平方米(含在建)。

学校有56个民族的在校全日制学生3万余人，教职员工近2千人，其中专任教师1500余人，副高以上职称700余人，博士生导师、硕士生导师400余人。有49人先后享受国务院政府特殊津贴，28人先后为四川省学术技术带头人，21人先后为四川省突出贡献专家，6人先后为国家民委有突出贡献优秀专家，6人为国家民委领军人才人选，8人为教育部新世纪优秀人才支持计划人选，11人为国家民委中青年英才人选，56人先后为四川省学术技术带头人后备人选。

学校下设23个教学单位;有本科专业83个，硕士学位授权点100个，博士学位授权点7个，博、硕士学位授权一级学科18个，博士后流动站1个;是全国“卓越法律人才培养基地”和“中央部属高校大学生校外实践教育基地”;获全国高校毕业生就业典型经验50强高校。有4个一级学科省(部)级重点学科、1个一级学科(省)部级重点建设学科，6个国家级特色专业、10个省级本科特色专业、19个双学位专业，5个省级本科人才培养基地，1个省级工程技术中心，2个省级实验教学示范中心，11个省(部)级重点实验室。目前，学校馆藏图书资料500余万册(含电子文献)，教学科研实验设备总值4.5亿元。

学校具有较强科研能力，拥有极富特色的民族博物馆和世界上规模最大的藏学文献馆、彝学文献馆。2000年以来，承担国家级项目近300项，省(部)级项目近1000项，发表学术论文近16000篇，出版学术著作及教材近900部，获省部级科研成果奖近300项。特别是在畜牧兽医理论与技术、民族经济、民族旅游、民族文化研究和少数民族语言文字信息处理等领域的研究成果，在国内外学术界产生了较大影响。学校有2个“四川2011协同创新中心”，8个省(部)级人文社科重点研究基地;“全国彝语术语标准化工作委员会”、“全国高等院校彝汉双语教材编译审定委员会”挂靠学校;国家部委、中国社科院、四川省、中国生产力学会先后在学校建立了“国家民委少数民族古籍文献人才培养与科学研究基地”、“文化部民族民间文艺发展中心西南研究中心”、“中国西南民族语言资源库建设基地”、“四川省干部教育培训高校基地”、“四川省少数民族双语教育普及基地”、“四川省非物质文化遗产研究基地”和“中国生产力科学研究院”。出版的学术刊物主要有公开发行的《西南民族大学学报》、《民族学刊》和内刊《民族学信息》等。

学校建立64年来，培养出各类人才15万余人。在他们中间，涌现出新中国第一个藏族博士、羌族博士，涌现出新中国自己培养的第一批藏族将军，涌现出不少国内外著名的专家学者和大批各级领导干部，更多的毕业生成为各条战线的骨干，为民族地区的解放、政权建设、边疆巩固、民族团结、经济发展和社会进步做出了突出贡献。

学校是四川省对外开放的重点单位，迄今已有70多个国家和地区的专家、学者、政府官员来校进行学术交流活动或参观访问。学校与德国慕尼黑大学、美国加州大学河滨分校、加州大学圣地亚哥分校、弗吉利亚大学、澳大利亚国立大学等近30所国(境)外高校和科研机构建立了校际合作与交流关系。

学校是四川省民族团结进步创建活动示范学校;民族博物馆是全国民族团结进步教育基地和四川省民族团结进步教育基地。56个民族师生员工情同手足、守望相助，营造了团结友爱、和睦相处、共同进步的人文环境。

Southwest University for nationalities is a comprehensive ethnic university with 12 disciplines, including literature, history, philosophy, classics, management, law, education, science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, art and so on. It is located in the splendid Chengdu of the land of abundance and the capital of Furong, adjacent to the famous Wuhou Temple. The school, formerly known as the Southwest Institute for nationalities, was founded in July 1950, formally established on June 1, 1951, and changed its name to “Southwest University for nationalities” in April 2003. Under the personal care of the older generation of proletarian revolutionaries such as Zhou Enlai, Deng Xiaoping, Wang Weizhou, and so on, one of the earliest ethnic colleges and universities established in New China is in charge of the State ethnic Affairs Commission. The school covers an area of nearly 3000 mu. In Chengdu, there are Wuhou Campus (old campus), Airport Campus (new campus), Taiping Park Campus, and in Hongyuan County, Aba Prefecture, there is the “Southwest University for nationalities Qinghai-Tibet Plateau Ecological Protection and Animal Husbandry High-tech Research and demonstration Base”. The school building covers an area of 1.12 million square meters (including under construction).

The school has more than 30, 000 full-time students and nearly 2, 000 faculty members of 56 nationalities, including more than 1500 full-time teachers, more than 700 professional titles and more than 400 doctoral and master’s degree supervisors. 49 people have successively enjoyed the special allowance of the State Council government, 28 have successively been academic and technical leaders of Sichuan Province, 21 have successively made outstanding contributions to Sichuan Province, 6 have made outstanding contributions to the State Civil Affairs Commission, 6 are candidates for leading talents of the State Civil Affairs Commission, 8 are candidates for the New Century Talent support Program of the Ministry of Education, and 11 are candidates for young and middle-aged talents of the State Civil Affairs Commission. 56 people have been reserve candidates for academic and technological leaders in Sichuan Province.

The school has 23 teaching units, including 83 undergraduate majors, 100 master’s degree authorized points, 7 doctoral degree authorized points, 18 doctoral and master’s degree authorized first-tier disciplines, and 1 post-doctoral mobile station; it is the national “excellent legal personnel training base” and “central university graduates’ off-campus practical education base”; it has won the national top 50 colleges and universities with typical employment experience. There are 4 provincial (ministerial) key disciplines, 1 first-level (provincial) key construction disciplines, 6 national characteristic specialties, 10 provincial undergraduate specialties, 19 double-degree majors, 5 provincial undergraduate talent training bases, 1 provincial engineering and technology center, 2 provincial experimental teaching demonstration centers and 11 provincial key laboratories. At present, the school has a collection of more than 5 million books and materials (including electronic documents), and the total value of teaching and scientific research experimental equipment is 450 million yuan.

The school has a strong scientific research ability, has a very distinctive ethnic museum and the largest Tibetan Literature Museum and Yi Literature Museum in the world. Since 2000, it has undertaken nearly 300 national projects, nearly 1000 provincial (ministerial) projects, published nearly 16000 academic papers, published nearly 900 academic works and teaching materials, and won nearly 300 provincial and ministerial scientific research awards. In particular, the research achievements in the fields of animal husbandry and veterinary theory and technology, ethnic economy, ethnic tourism, ethnic cultural research and minority language information processing have had a great impact on the academic circles at home and abroad. The school has two “Sichuan 2011 Collaborative Innovation Center” and eight key research bases of humanities and social sciences at the provincial (ministerial) level; the “National Yi terminology Standardization Committee” and the “National Yi-Chinese Bilingual textbook compilation and approval Committee” are affiliated to the school. State ministries, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Sichuan Province, and the China Productivity Society have successively established the “National ethnic minorities Ancient Literature Talent training and Scientific Research Base”, “the Southwest Research Center of the Ministry of Culture ethnic Folk Literature and Art Development Center”, “Southwest China ethnic language Resource Database Construction Base”, “Sichuan Provincial cadre Education and training University Base”, “Sichuan Minority Bilingual Education Popularization Base”, “Sichuan Intangible Cultural Heritage Research Base” and “Chinese Productivity Research Institute”. The main academic journals published are the Journal of Southwest University for nationalities, the Journal of Ethnology and the Internal Journal of Ethnology.

Since its establishment 64 years ago, the school has trained more than 150000 talents of all kinds. Among them, the first Tibetan and Qiang doctors emerged in New China, the first batch of Tibetan generals trained by New China itself, and many famous experts and scholars at home and abroad and a large number of leading cadres at all levels emerged. More graduates have become the backbone of all fronts, making outstanding contributions to the liberation of ethnic areas, political power building, border consolidation, national unity, economic development and social progress.

The school is a key unit of Sichuan Province’s opening to the outside world. so far, experts, scholars and government officials from more than 70 countries and regions have come to the school for academic exchange activities or visits. The school has established intercollegiate cooperation and exchange relations with nearly 30 foreign universities and scientific research institutions, such as the University of Munich in Germany, the University of California Riverside, the University of California, San Diego, the University of Virginia, the Australian National University and so on.

The school is a demonstration school for the establishment of ethnic unity and progress in Sichuan Province, and the ethnic Museum is the national national unity and progress education base and Sichuan national unity and progress education base.
