　　西铁城公司的前身为日本尚工舍时计研究所，创立于1918年。CITIZEN品牌的计时产品始于1924年，是一款怀表。当时的东京市长，后藤新平先生期望这款苦心研制的日本制造的怀表能够成为“为CITIZEN，也就是全世界全体公民所亲近，所喜爱”的产品，因此将其命名为“CITIZEN”。

West Railway City Co., Ltd., formerly known as the Institute of Chronograph in Japan, was founded in 1918. The CITIZEN-branded chronograph, which began in 1924, is a pocket watch. The then mayor of Tokyo, Mr. Goto Shinhei, hoped that the Japanese-made pocket watch would become a product “close to and loved by CITIZEN, that is, all citizens of the world”, so he named it “CITIZEN”.
