The main task of the museum is to collect ancient works of art and all kinds of cultural relics, hold exhibitions, protect and maintain exhibits, print publications and carry out cultural relics education activities.

The National Museum of India has a total collection of 200,000 cultural relics, with more than 20 exhibition halls, libraries, cinema halls and shops. There are all kinds of precious historical relics from different parts of India since the third century BC, including ancient Indian bronze, pottery, sculpture and other works of art, as well as some precious foreign cultural relics.
