　　芝加哥希腊城(Greektown
Chicago)是独立于希腊之外的一个珍贵的希腊文化遗产，1840年代第一批希腊人坐船到达了芝加哥，他们开始做食品买卖，逐渐成为餐馆的老板，在十九世纪和二十世纪之交的时候希腊人人数增多并集中于哈里森、蓝岛和霍尔斯特德地区，于是这片区域就被称为芝加哥希腊城。

Chicago) is a precious Greek cultural heritage independent of Greece. In the 1840s, the first Greeks arrived in Chicago by boat. They began to buy and sell food and gradually became restaurant owners. At the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, the number of Greeks increased and concentrated in the Harrison, Blue Island and Halsted area, so this area was called the Greek City of Chicago.

In the 1960s, the Greek city of Chicago was forced to move several blocks north because of the establishment of highways and the University of Illinois in Chicago. Shedding and cheese were spread to Chicago by Greeks in this Greek city in 1968. From 1970 to 1990, many Greek restaurants opened and many are still open today. At the 1996 Democratic Convention, the Greek city of Chicago is recognized as a small town that contributes as much as a million dollars to the economy of Chicago.
