Festival)，具有悠久的历史。在第二次世界大战之后的1947年，由当时的格林德伯恩歌剧院的总经理鲁道夫·兵、英国文化协会负责人亨利·哈维·伍德还有一些爱丁堡的公民领袖创立。他们希望能举办一个节日可以活跃和丰富欧洲、英国和苏格兰的文化生活，为人类的“精神开花”提供一个平台。

Edinburgh International Arts Festival (Edinburgh International

Festival), has a long history. In 1947, after World War II, it was founded by Rudolph Bing, then general manager of the Greendburn Opera House, Henry Harvey Wood, head of the British Council, and some civic leaders in Edinburgh. They hope that holding a festival can enliven and enrich the cultural life in Europe, Britain and Scotland, and provide a platform for the “spiritual flowering” of human beings.

The Edinburgh International Arts Festival was founded as a world-class cultural event that will bring together artists and audiences from all over the world and hope to benefit the cultural, social and economic generation of Edinburgh and Scotland. It has been continuously rated as one of the most important cultural celebrations in the world.
