　　爱丁堡艺穗节源于1947年，正当爱丁堡国际艺术节举行期间， 有8个不请自来的艺术团体，因为未获分配场地作演出之用，故自行设置演出场地，
与艺术节的官方节目分庭抗礼，这些艺术节期间的非官方演出以艺穗自居，并大受欢迎，成为艺术节期间的重头戏。

Fringe) is one of the largest festivals in the world. It has been held in the capital of Scotland for more than 60 years and lasts for three weeks every August. It includes various art forms such as drama, dance, music, exhibitions and even performance art.

The Edinburgh Fringe Festival originated in 1947. During the Edinburgh International Arts Festival, eight uninvited art groups set up their own performance venues because they had not been allocated a venue for performance.

Competing with the official programs of the festival, the unofficial performances during these festivals regard themselves as art ears and are very popular, making them the highlight of the festival.
