　　湿地指天然或人工形成的沼泽地等带有静止或流动水体的成片浅水区，还包括在低潮时水深不超过6米的水域。湿地与森林、海洋并称全球三大生态系统，在世界各地分布广泛。湿地生态系统中生存着大量动植物，很多湿地被列为自然保护区。

　　中国湿地科学数据库集成当今蓬勃发展的空间信息技术和计算机技术，提取、存储、集成、管理湿地资源现状及其空间分布动态信息。该领域的研究是当今世界湿地科学研究的前沿领域之一，也是我所重要的学科研究方向。

　　本数据库以野外调查获得的湿地属性信息和基于遥感手段获得的湿地空间分布信息为基础，同时也包括我所多年湿地研究成果，如人类活动对典型区域湿地生态环境影响，湿地专题图件等。湿地数据库的建立对于开展湿地数据挖掘，探索中国湿地空间分布及其景观动态变化规律，进行湿地定量研究等都具有重要意义。

This database is based on the wetland attribute information obtained from field investigation and the wetland spatial distribution information obtained based on remote sensing.
