According to a new report from Mobile Syrup, sources have now come forward to indicate that Samsung’s 2018-editionGalaxy A8 devices will be headed to Canada as early as March 23. That would presumably mean that both the Galaxy A8 (2018) and Galaxy A8 Plus (2018) are expected to be included in the migration. The company hasn’t revealed any such information and the news should probably be taken with a grain of salt since Samsung isn’t known for keeping mum this close to the reported date. The circumstances are only made more suspicious by the fact that the source remains anonymous. That doesn’t necessarily rule the claim out entirely but isn’t reassuring.
In the meantime, unfortunately, there aren’t many details about the arrival of the devices. Whether both devices are included is unknown and no information was provided as to whether it would be on offer directly from any of Canada’s major mobile operators. Samsung might opt to sellits devices more directly or through retailers but that hasn’t been clarified. However, the source did claim that the Galaxy A8 would cost Canadians around $659 CAD to be bought outright – no specific information about the Galaxy A8 Plus was provided. Moreover, it is said that this will be for a version of the device that comes packing 32GB of storage and 4GB of RAM. Both gray and black color variations are also said to be included.

If the report turns out to be accurate – and it bears repeating that it might now – the rest of the specs should match up relatively close to those in international versions of Samsung’s Galaxy A8 devices. That would entail super thin bezels in an all-metal frame housing a super-AMOLED Infinity display with rounded corners. The Galaxy A8 would feature a 5.6-inch display, compared to the A8 Plus’s 6-inch display – with both displays rated at fullHD+ resolution. Both handsets ship with a combination 16-megapixel and 8-megapixel shooter on the front side, coupled with a 16-megapixel camera on the back. Below that, a fingerprint scanner can be found for additional security. Both are also drivenby Samsung’s Exynos 7885 14nm 64-bit octa-core SoC on the inside and driven by Android Nougat 7.1.1 topped off with Samsung’s Samsung Experience U.I. Power is provided via a 3,500mAh battery in the Galaxy A8 Plus and a 3,000mAh battery in the smaller Galaxy A8.
