Recently I completed reading of this book Hooked
. This book mainly discusses about the properties of habit building products which people use regularly. The author proposed a Hooked
Model which is the benchmark to justify whether a product has the principles or not.

The Hooked
Model has 4 steps:

  1. Trigger
  2. Action
  3. Variable Reward
  4. Investment

To simply says, trigger is the cue by which user know what to do next. Like checking email or using facebook.

Action is the to do things comes after trigger. Like user knows how to use facebook or checking email by opening email app.

Variable reward or simply reward is the satisfaction after completing the task, like by checking email the information gathered.

Investment is the final step which measures how much time user spent on the products.

There are many case studies discussed in this book which are easy to learn. Everything is discussed detailed to understand how to build a successful habit forming products.

I enjoyed the book and I highly recommend it to the people who want to develop a business either based on mobile app, game, desktop app or through web app.
