S6 Randomly Turns Off After Getting Wet

Problem:

I dropped my Samsung Galaxy s6 phone in the toilet and after 10 minutes realized the phone was not functioning properly after it switched off on it’s own and showed me a black and white static screen. I immediately put it in rice for 24 hours. Today I checked the phone again after 24 hours. It switched on and was working for 5 minutes with a little bit of lag, however, switched off again. I checked the Sim holder to see if the sticker was pink or red and it wasn’t (Not quite sure where exactly I had to check but didn’t see red or pink colors anywhere). I now have stuck it back in rice. Please let me know what to do.

Solution:
The best thing that you can do right now is to make sure that the phone is dry and free from moisture. Placing it in a bag of rice for another 24 hours with the SIM card removed is highly recommended. If the issue still persists after this then a component in the phone might have already become water damaged. The best thing that you can do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Only Turns On When Charging

Problem:

What part (hardware) of samsung galaxy s6 gets affected when there is showing 89% instead of 100% and when I disconnected the charger, it turned off. Then I noticed that it only turns on while charging, but the battery stays at 89%, and even during charging, it restarts by itself. I wiped the cache and did a master reset, but nothing seems to work, it doesn’t turn on.

Solution:
The problem could either be caused by a faulty battery or faulty power IC. The best thing that you can do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Unauthorized Actions Have Been Detected Error

Problem:

Hello I have a Samsung S6 running Android 6.0.1. The phone keeps on getting the notifications “unauthorized actions have been detected”. The phone is not rooted or modified in any way. The phone has updates ready to be installed as well. But the installation fails and the phone is not able to update its software. It has been a very annoying experience so far. Please! Help

Solution:
If you haven’t rooted your phone or modified the phone software then there’s a possibility that this is caused by a software glitch. Perform the troubleshooting steps listed below to fix the problem.

  • Make sure that your phone is running on the latest software version.
  • Start your phone in Safe Mode. When the phone operates in this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run. If the issue does not occur in this mode then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S6 No Software Update Available

Problem:

Hi, My s6 has never asked for an update, i know that it can be updated because other s6s have been updated higher than lollipop. Whenever i go to update device it just says to check back later as there are no updates. However, i know for a fact that my phone can be updated to marshmallow and possibly even to nougat. Please help me update my phone to a higher version.

Solution:
There are several factors that your phone must first meet in order for it to be able to get the official software updates.

  • Your phone must not be rooted.
  • Your phone must not be running on a custom software.
  • If your phone is unlocked then it should be running on its original network in order for it to access the update servers.

In case your phone meets the conditions listed above and it is still not getting any updates then proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
  • Connect your phone to a computer with Smart Switch running then check if the phone can be updated.

If the above steps fails to update the phone software then you should consider manually flashing the updated firmware file using Odin. You can get the firmware file from the Sammobile website which is also where you can get the instructions on how to flash your phone.

S6 Back Button Not Working After Getting Wet

Problem:

My phone had a wee accident and fell down the toilet. Got it out very quickly and put it in rice for 24 hours. Everything was fine for about two weeks apart from the back button didn’t work. Now it’s like it has the hiccups and I can’t open anything as it immediately closes it. I can’t even sign in as I get halfway through my password and it closes down. It’s like the back button now has a mind of it’s own. Any ideas on how to fix this or is it goosed?

Solution:
You can try to check if the problem is caused by a software glitch. Backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone yet. Try to check if the issue still occurs. If it does then this is most likely caused by a water damaged component inside the phone. I recommend that you have this checked at a service center.

S6 Mobile Data Not Turning On

Problem:

Hi, a few days ago, I disconnected from my school’s wifi, expecting to be reconnected with my mobile data (which i hadn’t turned off at all). But when I turned off my wifi, the wifi symbol disappeared but the mobile data symbol (the two arrows going in opposite directions) didn’t appear like it normally does. My mobile data was “on”, but i had no internet and no data symbol. My wifi worked fine when i reconnected. On top of this, recently my phone has started to randomly restart itself. It seems like my battery has issues because sometimes it’ll turn off at 1%, but as soon as I plug it in it goes to 5% immediately.

Solution:
The first thing that you should do right now is to check the phone settings making sure that the mobile data switch is turned on. If the phone is not getting any mobile data then try restarting the device. Once the phone has restarted check if is getting a mobile data signal. Should the issue persists then proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Try going to a different location. This way you can check if the problem is coverage related.
  • Go to the network mode setting of your phone and make sure that it is set to LTE/WCDMA/GSM (auto connect). You can access this from Settings – Mobile Networks – Network Mode.
  • Start the phone in Safe Mode then check if your mobile data works in this mode. Id it does then the problem could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S6 Shuts Off After Samsung Logo Appears

Problem:

I have issue with my samsung galaxy S6. Is shuts off just after galaxy s6 logo every time I starts. It has around full battery charge though. When connect to charger, It turns on, it remains on until if not used. Even during charging It restarts when I use any app for one minute. Please help me to solve this issue.

Solution:
The best thing that you can do right now is to start the phone in recovery mode then from here perform a factory reset. Take note that this will erase your phone data. If the issue persists then this could already be a hardware related problem in which case you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
