Just a day after an update landed that added support for a dark theme and password syncing
, Microsoft's Edge browser for Android came out of beta today. The version number is 18.104.22.1687, and the news comes almost two months after the first public preview was launched for iOS and Android
If you're on iOS, there's still only the option for a limited preview through Apple's TestFlight application. It would seem that the iOS version shouldn't be too far behind though, as Microsoft hasn't actually made a formal announcement regarding general availability of either app. In fact, the title in the Google Play Store still says Microsoft Edge Preview.
Edge for Android runs on the Blink rendering engine - which is the same that Google uses for Chrome - rather than EdgeHTML. On iOS, the app uses WebKit, which is actually required for a browser on Apple's platform.
You can download Edge from the Google Play Store here
, but there's likely more news to come from this. You can also sign up for the beta from the Google Play Store link, if you want to get the latest features earlier than everyone else.
