一、让虚拟与真实交互,MSF打造合作空间
元宇宙标准论坛由Khronos Group组织发起MSF,Khronos Group是一个由超过150家成员公司组成的非营利组织。这个组织创立了许多开放交互标准,比如OpenGL、Vulkan以及其它的视频游戏后台工具。Khronos组织称,元宇宙标准论坛不是一个新的标准组织,而是一个帮助开发元宇宙的新工具,是现有标准组织和公司之间的“合作场所”。

Khronos组织的总裁尼尔·特里维特(Neil Trevett)对外媒Weird说:“判断一个开放标准是否真正成功的依据,就是让你根本意识不到它其实是一个标准。”而这也是该团队在游戏领域以及扩展现实(XR)、机器学习和3D设计和元宇宙领域开发标准的目标。

二、“元宇宙”概念尚未明确,以后可能会被替代
什么是元宇宙?有科技公司解释道,元宇宙是未来的虚拟世界。在这个虚拟世界里,我们可以像在现实世界一样进行购物、游戏和社交活动。这样的描述听起来很像电影《头号玩家》里展示的画面。但是特里维特认为,元宇宙不会发展成电影《头号玩家》所展现的形态。

但目前而言,元宇宙尚未有一个清晰明确的统一定义。
Khronos组织称,元宇宙标准论坛并不过分关注元宇宙的定义,以后甚至可能会用别的词来换掉“元宇宙”这三个字。特里维特说:“互联网曾经的名字叫做‘网络空间’,虽然现在已经没人使用后面这个说法了,但我们依然在使用互联网。”
三、把三维数据变成“JPEG”,让三维数据更易于操作
在元宇宙里构建一个虚拟的电子游戏世界的想法也备受期待,但是这需要很多复杂的技术,例如3D模型、动画和物理模拟等。计算机要处理非常庞大的数据,才能构建一个能够与真实世界交互的虚拟世界。电子游戏里的每个对象都是由几何信息、纹理、重量、行为、动画、声音等物理特征组成的三维数据,而这些三维数据很容易在移动传输的过程中被损坏。
与三维数据不同,JPEG是一种非常容易得到转移和广泛支持的格式,人们只需右键单击操作就可以转移JPEG文件的位置。JPEG格式能够如此容易地被转移且得到广泛支持,部分原因就在于它是一种轻量级的开放标准。而Khronos组织希望元宇宙标准论坛能够让这些三维数据变得和JPEG格式一样易于操作。
结语:苹果等公司远离元宇宙热概念,元宇宙标准论坛或可推动行业发展
虽然目前元宇宙标准论坛的成员中已经有许多知名科技公司,但是却没有苹果、谷歌等科技巨头的身影。作为一个初创的技术理念,元宇宙本身是不完善的,这也是苹果和谷歌不认可这个概念的原因。
除了苹果和谷歌,收购了Pico的字节跳动也表示正在远离元宇宙这个热概念,而专注对VR/AR业务的开发。
中国的产业发展研究专家史一哲认为,产业联盟的成立往往是行业发展初期,产业边界还不明确时期的产物。这种联盟虽然不一定会产生非常有效的成果,但是也会推动整个行业的发展。

The Khronos organization said that the meta-universe standards forum does not pay too much attention to the definition of meta-universe, and may even replace the word “meta-universe” with other words in the future. Trivit said: “the Internet used to be called ‘cyberspace’, although no one uses the latter term anymore, but we still use the Internet.”
Third, change 3D data into “JPEG” to make 3D data easier to operate.
The idea of building a virtual video game world in meta-universe is also highly anticipated, but it requires a lot of complex technologies, such as 3D models, animation and physical simulations. Computers have to process very large amounts of data in order to build a virtual world that can interact with the real world. Each object in a video game is three-dimensional data composed of geometric information, texture, weight, behavior, animation, sound and other physical features, and these three-dimensional data are easy to be damaged in the process of mobile transmission.
Unlike 3D data, JPEG is a format that is easy to transfer and widely supported, and people can simply right-click to transfer the location of the JPEG file. The JPEG format can be transferred so easily and is widely supported in part because it is a lightweight open standard. The Khronos organization hopes that the Metasmos Standards Forum will make these 3D data as easy to manipulate as the JPEG format.
Conclusion: Apple and other companies are far away from the concept of meta-cosmic heat, and the meta-cosmic standard forum may promote the development of the industry.
Although there are already many well-known technology companies among the members of the meta-cosmic standards forum, there are no technology giants such as Apple and Google. As a fledgling technology concept, meta-universe itself is imperfect, which is why Apple and Google do not recognize this concept.
