It was only weeks ago that the details about the upcoming Apple Watch 3 were leaked, however, Daring Fireball later expressed doubts about the release timeframe. KGI Securities has a pretty decent track records when it comes to Apple products and Ming-Sui an analyst from the KGI has published new details about the Apple Watch 3.
KGI predicts that the Apple Watch will be continued to be offered in two configurations 38mm and 42mm. However, this time around Apple will ship the Watch 3 in both LTE and non-LTE variants. On the design front, not much is expected to change as opposed to the previous round of leaked images. The downside, however, is that the new Apple Watch will not support 3G and this is expected to severely limit the markets it’s sold in.
A report from Bloomberg had earlier mentioned that the Apple Watch 3 would be available on all major U.S carriers including AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile and also Sprint. Apart from the variant details, it’s still not clear on what new features we can expect from the Apple Watch 3. Pricing details are also unknown. Furthermore, KGI is predicting that the Apple will be able to ship 17.5-18 Million units this year and in this, the count of the upcoming Apple Watch 3 is pegged to be around 35-40%. KGI expects less than half of the total Apple Watches shipped this year will be the LTE variants.
That being said it’s safe to assume that the new Apple Watch will be released alongside the new iPhones next month. As per IDC’s data, Apple is now perched at the third position when it comes to “Top Five Wearable Device Vendors, Shipments, YoY Growth and Market Share, Q4 2016.” What new features do you expect from the Apple Watch 3, reply in the comment section below,
