Unfortunately for Sony consumers in the US, it seems thatthe Xperia XZ andthe Xperia X Compact do not have working fingerprint sensors. That doesn’t mean that you can’t turn them on — they’re still there, wired up and worth sending to US customers, after all — with just a bit of tinkering.

Thankfully, an XDA-Developersmember have found the way to activate the sensors and that is to flash the UK firmware.
Our source link to drrobo’s guide is below, but the gist is to download a tool called Flashtool, grab the firmware zip and do a little messing around in the file directory. The process doesn’t take too long, but once the flash and a reboot happens, you should be able to get a working fingerprint sensor.
Of course, some XDA members are just a bit timid about this sort of stuff, as are regular consumers.
