On macOS 10.12 (Sierra) MATLAB does not show Chinese, Japanese, and Korean localized user interfaces and messages, and the default character encoding is incorrect for many locales.
On macOS 10.12 (Sierra) MATLAB does not show localized user interfaces and messages for Chinese, Japanese, and Korean locales. Because of this, the MATLAB Desktop, other UIs, prompts, warnings, and error messages appear in English.
The default character encoding is also incorrect for many locales. Character data created or loaded into MATLAB and re-saved might be corrupted in the process. MATLAB files containing non-ASCII characters might not execute as expected. Examples of affected characters include Asian characters, accented characters, mathematical symbols, trademark symbols, and monetary characters such as the Euro symbol.
The following language and region combinations are compatible with macOS 10.12 (Sierra) and no further action is required:
English, United States
English, United Kingdom
If your language and region combination is not listed above, please refer to the Workaround section.
For MATLAB R2015a and prior releases, please delay installation of macOS 10.12 (Sierra) until a workaround for your release of MATLAB is available and documented here.
