To make way for the new products announced at today's event, Google has removed several items from their online store. Most notable is the removal of the Nexus 5X and 6P , Google's smartphone lineup from last year, now replaced by the Pixel devices . Also gone from the virtual shelves is the NVIDIA Shield console , still arguably the best Android TV device on the market. The Mattel View-Master VR Starter Pack and Goggle Tech C1-Glass VR Viewer are both removed as well, now that Daydream is the focus of Google's VR efforts. Finally, the Dell Chromebook 13 is gone.
The Nexus 6P and 5X removal shouldn't surprise anyone, but it marks the (possible) end of the Nexus lineup. The Nexus 5X is still my favorite phone, and after seeing the prices of the Pixel phones, I will likely hang onto it for as long as possible. The NVIDIA Shield removal does spark interest, perhaps indicating that the SHIELD has not been overly successful.
If you're in the market for any of these products, you're not out of options. The NVIDIA Shield , Mattel View-Master , Goggle Tech C1-Glass , Nexus 5X , and Nexus 6P are all still available on Amazon. The 5X and 6P are also still available through Project Fi , but there is no telling how long that will last. The Dell Chromebook 13 is also still being sold, although seemingly only on Dell's website .
